Helicopter was flying stationary above our town for 30+ mins., page 1

This just happened in the past hour. I only recorded 10 mins on my Galaxy S3 but it was outside for more than 30 mins. The sounds of the helicopter woke me up. Someone passing by asked me "Any idea what's going on?" I just shook my head, "Don't know." So can anybody explain why a helicopter would stay stationary in the air for that long? This happened at approximately between 6:30am to 7:15am today. Not saying it's a conspiracy but it's just strange because I've never seen this.

Any number of reasons.

It could be a police helicoptor stationed there waiting for whoever they are chasing to be spotted, on standby if you will.

Could be a construction helicopter waiting for the crews to finish what they are doing before hauling something away.

Could be a lifeflight helicopter waiting for emergency crews on the ground to stabilize someone before transport.

Could be some sort of coordination training and its waiting for its role to come up in the excersize.

Could be a new pilot getting a license and they are performing a stationary test for 30 minutes.

Could be any endless number of things. One thing I'm pretty sure of though, it wasn't spying on you.

Could be any one of a thousand reasons! I wouldn't worry about it for real ,just going to give yourself an ulcer..lol
now if it was hovering directly over your house for fifteen minutes then maybe you should start to worry, especially if you see guys in blacked out clothing or camouflage holding weapons.

I know what the Helicopter is doing there.


They're trying to steal your fresh new take on "found footage" movies.

Appearantly, it has been going on for a few months in your area,

Hudson Reporter, Noisy Aircraft

For months, residents in Jersey City Heights, Journal Square, and Greenville have been complaining about helicopters from a Kearny-based heliport that fly just above rooftops and trees in these communities. Noise from these aircraft has been a concern, as has the fear that in the event of an accident people in these residential areas could be seriously injured.

Sitler and other residents said they have seen helicopters flying as early as 6 a.m. and as late as 11:30 p.m. and even after midnight.

She said the problem began after the South Kearny-based HHI Heliport was approved and opened for business in 2011. “The heliport in South Kearny obtained permission earlier in the week from Newark Liberty International Airport to fly at the maximum height of 1,000 feet, presumably in an effort to reduce noise to the communities over which they fly,” said Lopez.

Oh well. Not as excited as I thought it would be. Just don't like being woken up so early in the morning by copter sounds, it's rude.
