That same photo was released about a month ago and was proven to be a hoax, I'll see if I can find it. This would be all over the news if true.

He's a socialist dictator.

Hugo Chavez

-SAP-

from YOUR link

he founded a social democratic political party, the Fifth Republic Movement, and was elected president of Venezuela in 1998. He subsequently introduced a new constitution which increased rights for marginalized groups and altered the structure of Venezuelan government, and was re-elected in 2000. During his second presidential term,

Reading his Wiki he seemed a decent chap.

A quote from him here

Democracy is impossible in a capitalist system. Capitalism is the realm of injustice and a tyranny of the richest against the poorest. Rousseau said, 'Between the powerful and the weak all freedom is oppressed. Only the rule of law sets you free.' That's why the only way to save the world is through socialism, a democratic socialism... [Democracy is not just turning up to vote every five or four years], it's much more than that, it's a way of life, it's giving power to the people... it is not the government of the rich over the people, which is what's happening in almost all the so-called democratic Western capitalist countries.

Seems about right to me but hey Iam a socialist

In Iraq it used to be 5 cents a gallon. That's what happens when the oil and oil money isn't privately owned and flowing to the pockets of stockholders but belongs to the people of the country where the oil flows.

You think he's what your press has painted him to be. What he really is might be a little bit different. Every south or central american leader in the last 50 years has been vetted by the CIA and if they didn't pass muster, they've been ousted. Chavez was one of the only ones besides Castro who managed to evade the CIA coup d'etat when it seemed like he wasn't going to cooperate with lining the pockets of overseas bankers and oil barons. He probably did more for Venzuelans than any south or central american leader has done for their people in history.

Hitler was also elected into power. Doesn't make them any less worse just because they lied their way to power.

I wasn't aware he was elected. I retract the fact he's a "dictator".

Sorry I stand corrected.

ETA: I think elected constitutional changing president fits better. What's the difference? I don't think there is one.

He was elected again in 2007 and he got 63% of the vote so the majority wanted him.

We just need to watch Sean Penn's actions.

He will be on the top of the list to know if this is true news.

He got rid of term limits. Meaning he still needed to be reelected by the people. How does that equal making himself President for life?

I don't think Chavez being out of the picture is necessarily going to be a good thing for Venezuela.

Up to now, Chavez was bucking TPTB in every aspect including banking, oil rights, bringing their gold back, etc... In my mind, anyone who fights against the bankster oil dictators of the world is okay in my books.

I think we've been fed a lot of BS propaganda about Chavez like every other "dictator" in resource rich countries.

It'll be interesting to see how quickly and quietly our countries take control over Venezuela's resource assets by means of who gets "voted" into power after the dust settles.

RIP regardless.

I'm fairly sure this is a hoax. It could be true but this link doubts it .

Ok so give me an example of what makes Hugo Chavez a dictator?

In this case the word dictator is a label given to someone who is in opposition of the U.S. government.
