But each time he has been elected so it is the will of the majority of the people. The people are the ones who matter and they voted him in.
You have said you hate socialists in this thread so you are hating him for his politics which is fair enough but being glad he is dead isn't on really. (he isn't though
)

But go ahead. I made several points, repeatedly. You can dispute any one of them.

With all due respect, I didn't start this off last night questioning the integrity or reliability of your informarion. I also didn't say I'd be back to address your points. You said that about me and mine.

So... No,. I'm not getting drawn into a dead end and pointless run around the logic tree with your opinions that, as I'm seeing, will change and adapt however they need to, to insure you're always right no matter WHAT is offered in proof or support.

Basically... You outright stated you'd have counters to my points. So that burden lay with you, not me. That was your own choice for how it was stated last night in your 'hit and run' swipe at what I was saying here then.

Chavez is fighting an entrenched oligarchy in Venezuela. He is in the vanguard of a worldwide fight against the forces of wealth and entitlement. Forces which are necessary in the world and valued in the world but which take too much off the economic table for themselves.

People are fighting the same battle in the United States and around the world. This fight has been going on since time immemorial. Chavez is attempting to restore some balance to the situation in Venezuela.

Rich Venezuelans don't like him because he is reorganizing the gravy train and they don't like it.

Why am I not the least bit surprised you also have a real admiration for Chavez? It's not surprising who comes out on the side of *ANYONE* who is ant-American. It's becoming obscene to see happen for how low the support gets sometimes to those anti-American figures ...but it's predictable.

You're right.. I do dislike socialists ...AS HE HAS PROJECTED IT. You forgot that very important clarification I made at the same time I said that. After all, Scandinavia is socialist too. They make it work..wonderfully. They aren't suffering 26% inflation rates and running shortages of basic food items in their capital cities as Chavez has off and on for years. (We'll leave the great butter shortage out of it..lol)

That other European example of socialism also doesn't have prisons packed with political prisoners. Just as Cuba has, which Chavez largely modeled his own revolution on, arrest and incarceration of dissent has been a major part of his rise and hold on power. If that's okay with you......then I suppose we each have radically different definitions of human rights and what that really means for a national population.

Someone on this thread last night even said, outright, that anyone resisting a socialist government should go to jail. Umm.. Yeah... The fanatic support of Hugo Chavez in some people is almost a scary thing.

Nope I did not know much about him until last night and spent most of the night reading about him and what he says makes sense to me.
Iam far from being anti american seeing my son is a New Yorker I love all people but I hate greed elitism and corruption and I see plenty of that here in the UK and the states.
Human rights? sorry but our governments destroy them all the time.
At the end of the day he was elected in by the people so he must be doing something right.

This is out of control ... Hugo Chavez is not dead , for anyone looking on the
interwebz their going to see a front page article on ATS, getting a lot of attention
on something that clearly is not true.

It's embarrassing... no wonder main stream think we are all whacked.

Given that it's been a few pages since actual facts have appeared ..I thought I'd update the chat with the economic realities of that nation.

(Source: CIA Factbook

We all have our rights to opinions or interpretations but the facts are what they are.

It's also more than his political ideology for what I find detestable about the man and his whole leadership history and approach. It's the spending like there is no tomorrow. Much like our own President. Chavez managed to grow his national debt 20% in a single year. That's quite an accomplishment and speaks volumes to the degree of Government subsidy loaded into the basic staples in stores ..Oh and that dirt cheap gas. They can't REFINE the gas at anything like he was selling it. That was subsidy...paid for by the rather robust taxes and nationalization of most of his nation's business sector.

Yeah don't you just hate it when an elected official lives up to his promises and actually spends the wealth of a nation.....On the citizens of the nation.

I mean, whatever next?

LOL Look at all this propaganda at work.

*assumes an ignorant voice*

The TV told me communists and socialists are bad. So I'm gonna celebrate now that I read on the interwebz that this one socialist I don't know died a few thousand miles away.

*resumes her normal voice*

Except for it's, you know, wrong.

Unfreeking believable 15 pages of false info, 52 stars for a false post and I am still trying to find one true news post tweet email link that says this is all BS and that he is still alive, oh well maybe this will do

"Kim Jong Un and Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader, have been giving lesson on how to play the game by Ex-NBA star Dennis Rodman. On the day of his improbable journey to Pyongyang, telling,Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan leader, Dennis Rodman and he Kim Jong Un where friends for life" Hugo Chavez is alive and well, but apparently the Venezuelan president (or someone who has access to his account) has started tweeting again.

Perhaps HOAX is the spot... I've yet to see proof he's alive ...but then proof he's dead is just as lacking. We get to wonder... If he didn't die this time though, he has very little time left. Even he can't beat medical reality and his diagnosis isn't a survivable one ....He's on the tail end of it, by any report one looks at. So... We'll see how it turns out.

Beyond that? Well.. I've said what I had to say, in several ways. It's degenerated into running fights and with little to nothing beyond opinions and unsupported claims. Precisely what I try to avoid and already spent far too much time screwing with here. Everyone have your "I love Hugo" celebration. Not everyone agrees....but that doesn't seem a right we have anymore. Disagreement is ignorance or stupidity or buying propaganda. Disagreement can't even be a lack of information... Nope.. it's outright stupidity or being a fool. So I've been told now...repeatedly.

...and ATS keeps slipping a little more each time disagreement is reduced to such base fighting.
I'm off, barring any major new developments.
