Honest question, do they actually take these movies seriously or are they meant moreso to be comedy?

WOW.

That is some super cheesy goodness. Actually decent production values too. They really need to release that in the states, I bet it would do well in the summer.

My impression? It was like what would have happened if Ray Harryhausen had been hired to do the Matrix.

Ray did wonders with what he had and the technology at the time, I went to an exhibition of his at the Bradford media museum and to see the models in the flesh was amazing.

Actually it ran in mainstream theaters in Canada.

Canada has a decent Tamil Population so the theaters actually make lots of money, i have also seen Filipino, Hindi(i think, could be Urdu), Korean so far.

Yeah the movie is cheesy lol... if they try to copy Hollywood, it gets cheesy, they should stick with their classical movies.

Growing up in Toronto, you get used to bunch of cultures, even languages.

I still remember dragging my wife to see Pan's Labyrinth in theaters. This was way before the Oscar hype and win... We were almost the only ones in the theater (the movie is subtitled, as it is in Spanish). Luckily, she loved the movie, but yeah, we can have culture here too....just need to find it. Sadly, most of the small independent theaters just can't survive in this economy.
