Secretary's are really nothing more than glorified administrators now.

They don't make policy and their role as advisor to the President has pretty much been wiped away. The political views of the individual are for all intents and purposes, irrelevant.

There is nothing that Hagel will do that isn't something that Obama wants done so I'm not sure why we even have to have them confirmed anymore, other than its in the Constitution.

Well, I'd call this one of the darker days for our nation, given the state of World Affairs.

Some people are fanatic about Israel this and Israel that. Well..Israel is ONE nation among over 200 and the United States claims or assumes some form of responsibility for the sea space, air space or well being of almost ALL of them through the Department of Defense. The agency THIS fool just took charge of.

I didn't mind Kerry at State. We need a wimp at the State Department. It's, honestly and frankly, what the State Department is FOR, after all. Diplomacy and Double dealing. It's hard to see it any other way. So that one fit. Hagel at Defense? Good lord.... Why not put Jane Fonda in there instead? It would have been a bit more objectionable, but not by too much.

Some say he's a Republican so that should matter... Well, RINO is more like it and party doesn't make any difference to ignorance with a good dash of stupidity and extreme self interest thrown in.

What in the world made Obama think a SENATOR ..and a rather bad one at that...has ANYTHING for qualification to the Defense Department DURING one shooting war, several low intensity "conflicts" we're involved with and god only knows what will be developing in the Western Pacific?? Into THIS we get On the job training and agendas to pack the place?

God Help Us......our Department of Defense sure won't be worth a damn to call for a few years.
