This flying hazardous wastemobile isn't coming down anytime soon is it?
What is the altitude of the space junkyard? I think it's floating around in the space junkyard. I find no news on it coming down and they finally updated the observation schedule through March 8th. No fireworks.

And yes, I see the altitude getting lower overall ... it's just one slow turkey!

There is a point where the tracking software will continue to simulate the orbit long after the object has entered the atmosphere and crashed, just so you know..

So can we use the UARS rule of burn-up probability at roughly the 50 miles/80 kilometres altitude or would this rocket booster's different size, weight and composition drastically change that?

It has already come down. The fireball was seen over Texas and reported to the AMS.

I suspect that this fireball was the re-entry of the Chinese CZ-4B
rocket that launched Yaogan 14 on May 10 last year. This has a NORAD
catalog ID of 38259 and an international designation of 2012-021C. The
latest TIP message on Spacetrack (issued at 12:16 UTC) suggests that
this decayed just after crossing the equator northbound near 3degN
88.6degW on February 27 at 09:06 UTC (03:06 CST).

Bummer! That means it DID come down at the pass East of me and this blind bat missed it! www.abovetopsecret.com... 4AM EST is 3AM CST - and - my edit was after the following post about how high up we are situated.

And then I waited and saw it pass by my place on that never-ending NYO webpage (which still shows the turkey floating around!) If I hadn't been so blind I would have been outside watching as I was when UARS came by me and I saw the "tumble" it did on it's last pass in my location's field of view.

Grrrrr - U2U me a pair of new eye lenses and I won't miss the next one.

Edit - Trillium - here's your post at the time it was actually falling. www.abovetopsecret.com...
