Not picking a fight. I was pointing out your hypocrisy. If it's "not worth your time" then why are you even on this thread? I seriously don't get it.

Funny how you, though, have to try and falsely claim I'm picking a fight just because I objected to something that you said in your initial response.

But whatever. It's not worth your time, then it's not worth my time responding to you any further.

No, I won't drop it. You are the one I responded to and you are the one doing exactly this.

Not picking a fight?

You were talking about one side of the politcal aisle and kept saying "you" . . . I informed YOU that YOU could drop that language because THEY are not ME. That is all . . . YOU wanted to argue about it.

Good luck . . . I'm out.
(Please note: at no time in this post was the "R" word or it's manipulation for outgrouping or propaganda purposes discussed by me in this thread, so I am not in breach our my previous proposal.)

Nope.

That doesn't matter. You still came on here talking about how the Left does it and trashing the Left. So it's a logical conclusion to think you were part of the Right.

YOU wanted to argue about it.

No, I'm trying to discuss the topic. Call it what you want. You are the only one being argumentative now.

Good luck . . . I'm out.

So you keep saying, yet you keep responding.

The statements she made according to that Rense article sounds like typical GOP rhetoric to me, to excuse the inexcusable you must demonize the people you're screwing over.

Oh...I agree...crappy politics and they are certainly exploiting her connections with China and her former position in the Bush administration....and that does invite racism. But it appears a bit different than a tweet saying...hey look...he married a Chinese woman.

So yah...I think the tact they are taking sucks...but as always starting with the facts helps too. The tweet cited an article that claimed she bashed American workers...it didn't point to pic of a Chinese woman. Is that article BS? Don't know. Would they have still done the tweet if this woman was caucasion? Probably...cuz that is some pretty crazy stuff the Rense article claimed she said. Should they not use it because she is a Chinese-American?

I think it is bottom feeder politics any which way....but not convinced it was a racist ploy. Appreciate your aim of nuetrality though.

I honestly think the tweeter was attempting to link her heritage to her policies. If his point was to point out the damage she did as Labor Secretary he should have said so and not just linked some old article from Rense. Her policies are a matter of public record after all.

He should have drawn attention to the fact that as Bush's Labor Secretary she was at the head of a massive influx of imported labor and then a massive outsourcing of labor and how her husband has acted in similar accord, even though he should have probably left her out of it all together. She isn't running her husband is. I appreciate your posts though, you have a great perspective imo.

Obviously to claim this person was a major factor or a factor at all is ridiculous.Outsourcing began decades ago under Ronald Reagan.

Sadly no because tomorrow we will but put back into our tidy little compartments to rage on the battle of ideology once again. But I do like the idea....

Some people are too sensitive. Some of them are also way too easily offended by stupid things.

It really doesn't insult his wife at all. It sort of suggests that he has an additional interest in securing China's future since it is a part of his family heritage now. I don't see where it is racist, or demeaning to the Chinese but to the American Senator for choosing China over his own country. Most Liberals after finding McConnell has a Chinese wife will like him better for it. It is probably unfair to link his wife's nationality with McConnell and the GOP party platform (of boosting the economy of China) no matter how well they "appear" to fit together.

Ok kiddies.

The point of the tweet is the article at the bottom of it:

Here it is.

It cites the Parade Magazine article she was quoted in. I don't know if I'd call her comments racist, but as Labor Secretary she sure wasn't pulling for the home team.

So this Progressive Kentucky group called her on her stuff (not necessarily racist, because she did say those things) and the Senate circles the wagons to protect her.

Why? Because if the hoi polloi can dislodge one of them, we could dislodge all of them.

You're right, sorry I was looking at another article on this topic.
But I maintain my opinion that there's emphasis on her race as a factor, when in reality she's just another in a long line that have sold out America.

I did not know McConnell was even married, let alone what race his wife was. Based on "buster2010 From the link here is the tweet."

I did not get any racial prejudice what so ever. Just more nonsense, taking away from the important stuff.

I had no idea Mitch McConnell's wife was Chinese.
Let me tell you this though.. Mitch McConnell is an idiot and there are a million other places they could and should have started. I don't know any other Kentuckian's that really support or like him.

No but the tweet has her picture and implies that heritage has everything to do with jobs going to China when there's plenty of Americans ensuring that happens.

REALLY???? Where's the picture in the body of the tweet?

Liberals are not trying to combat racism or any other ism. They are simply fishing for votes, talking out both sides of their mouths. They have set the cause of equality back further with their lies and absolute tripe.
I agree wholeheartedly, but Republicans are exactly the same. They all suck.

My bottom line on the tweet?

It was not outright racist.

It cited an article where his wife was qouted bashing American workers...from an interview for Parade Magazine.

Not sure if that interview was legit or not or if she said what she said.

So the Kentucky Progressive group was not outright saying...hey...his wife is Chinese.

Rather they were citing her prior Bush admin post...alleged things she said etc.

Now...my opinion??...vs. facts???

I think they likely are thinking/hoping that the policy focused attacks will also bring attention to her ethnicity and her chinese heritage...and if it riled up some racist sentiments from Kentucky constituents...eroded support on the right...appealed to closet racists on the left...all the better...gravy...bonus points. It is my opinion that they happily appealed to those racists...but nothing in the tweet offers direct evidence of that.

But...that is just my cynical opinion....after all this line of attack was based on articles citing an interview, her history in the Bush Admin etc. vs. He was born in Kenya or he has a "Black agenda"...reperations etc. ... all of which the right would claim were legitimate, non-racist challenges.

So..Yah...Crappy...I am glad they got thumped for it...but still not certain it was thier intent to appeal to racists. Should they have backed off just out of concern that they would appear racist? I don't know...

How about this...drop the racist question...and we can just say wives should be off limits...Crappy line of attack even before the racism question is asked.

I'm surprised how excited the right gets when they see a
glint of racism coming from anyone but them.

Here's my favorite of many Mitch McConnell racist statements.
How does this compare to the tweet as far as blatant racism?

Today Senate Republican Minority Leader Mitch McConnell apologized for racist remarks that were released to The Atlantic. He reportedly opined in 2008 that Democrat nominee Barack Obama would do very well because: "America is ready to elect its first African American President, especially one with light-skin and and no Negro dialect."

So..attacking a foreign corporate economic model is now racist?

The comment is inappropriate, but racism attacks genetic and cultural differences, not of a business model. This is not racism...but it is arguably calling him a traitor..which in itself is highly offensive.

Lets not dumb down any more words. We already erased meaning to words like socialism and tyranny..no need to kill anymore of the language.

Racism falls into the same categories you presented Saturn. It was relegated to every day language a long time ago and is utilized at every turn from "dog whistle words" to implying policies from one end to the next, it must mean people are racist; if you need to ask, I am reaching further back than the last 6 years on this. The word is meaningless in its true capacity since it is a word used by anyone and everyone from all walks of life in manners in which would never be considered to be the definition of the word.

Don't dilute your thinking to just your political ideology on this. I agree that throwing around tyrannical and socialist is done so without the slightest idea of their true meaning, but the racism bit has been played just as often.
