Sorry, not the Stephen King one.
(Thankee-sai)

This is about another type of gunslinger.

There was a movie, don't remember the title, circa 1950's (it was in black & white) It was about a gunslinger that was tired of fighting. He just wanted to settle down. Rest relax. Well, that didn't happen. He fought, but ended up enjoying the town in the end, sitting on a front porch.

I joined ATS fresh off other sites. A gunslinger itching to prove my worth. And I fought. And fought. Some wins, some losses. Made friends, made plenty of "respected foes" (
)
But lately, I've lost the edge.

I enjoy debate, but no longer have to push buttons, elicit ire, to make it count.

Someone disagrees with me? *meh*

I disagree with someone else? *meh* Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I really enjoy this site and hope to be a member long after the next Nirubu or zombie apocalypse. (Barring being banned of course!
)

But the urge to poke the hornets nest is faded a bit.

So I'm going to stay in town still, just might sit on the front porch instead of wearing my side irons is all.

Are you thinking of Paladin from "Have Gun Will Travel"? I get your point about being more mellow. Age does add wisdom

Perhaps its time to take a break and work out the rules for gun-golf, it could be a great distraction

I know what you're talking about man.
I am no where near as active as you are here, but I'm always lurking around.

It goes in waves or cycles for me. I'll have the need to get in on everything going on for a while. Then I just can't be bothered for another while.

Perhaps you're just in the trough of a wave right now.

That's OK beez. We'll just think of you as an old man on the ATS porch, watching the horses go by, chuckling under your breath at the young'uns.

There's a flip side to that coin; sometimes when old people do pipe up and chime in, they're so out of practice from being out of the fray too long that it comes out like geriatric gibberish.

We can be patient and wait for your pearls of wisdom; just remember to put your teeth in before you speak.

Perhaps. Or maybe just mellowing out.

We'll see what gets "my irish up" in the future!

You can't feed a soup spoon to a corn dog until the crow flies east!

(where in the hell ARE my teeth?)

I need to take a leaf out of your book it would appear.

Im normally a very relaxed mellow kinda guy but occasionally on this site I fins myself getting ridiculously aggravated by peoples posts and replies to me.

Not sure if its the anonymity of the net or the subject matter on the site but I find myself behaving and responding in ways that when I look back in a few hours kinda shocks me.

You got a 2nd chair on that porch for me? might be good for me to sit back and chill with a beer and just take it all in for awhile

Aaaaaaw beezzer, it will come back to you. Just kick back, snack on a few "tooter fish" sandwiches and rest on your laurels for a bit. Sooner or later the mid term elections will pop up and you will passionately poke people with sticks again!

It might have been 'Shane', If your looking for a movie, the premise you stated is the exact premise of this movie too.
