TEHRAN, Iran - Iran's parliament approved on Sunday the outline of a bill requiring the government to resume uranium enrichment an issue of national pride that is a rare point of agreement between conservatives and reformers in Iranian politics

The bill was approved unanimously after lawmakers in the conservative-dominated parliament stood up to show their "yes" vote for the bill.

Details of the bill would be discussed later; a date was not set.

The bill was just an outline and details are not set. The lawmakers seemed to view this as a national pride issue. This comes despite recent efforts of European countries to offer an incentive package to Iran to stop its enrichment activities. The package may have included the offer of a light water reactor and other incentives. If enrichment activities resume, it could force a U.N. Security Council resolution and possible sanctions.
