Damn! Just when I was getting comfortable in losing all faith in humanity, someone has to go and do a good deed. Not only that...the good deed is returned with anonymous people wanting to help as well.

One of these days I'll get it straight I guess.

But in all seriousness, hats off to all involved in making a fantastic gift even more so for this man. If any of those people are reading this...Thank you from me to you.

Peace

www.nydailynews.com...

Kansas City, Mo., homeless man who returned diamond and platinum engagement ring accidentally dropped into his beggar’s cup stands to receive at least $14,000 in ongoing fundraiser by the couple who recovered the ring The public was so moved by Billy Ray Harris’ honesty and selflessness that many online were looking for ways to help him. Sarah Darling and her husband, Bill Krejci, who gave him all the cash they had with them when they recovered the ring, wanted to do more and started an online fund for him.

“My grandfather was a reverend. He raised me from the time I was 6 months old, and thank the good lord. It’s a blessing, but I do still have some character,” Harris told KCTV5 last week. Floored by his honesty, Sarah Darling and her husband, Bill Krejci, dug into their wallets the day they recovered the ring and gave Harris all the money they had on them as a reward.

And this shows that not all hope is lost.

“The idea was maybe to come up with a couple hundred dollars, something nice for him,” Krejci said. “But now we’re talking about an amount that could really make a difference.” Nate St. Pierre, director of communications for GiveForward, said that his staff alerted him to the flurry of activity on Krejci’s page over the weekend. “A couple of days ago we noticed it was really starting to gain traction,” St. Pierre told The News. “He (Krejci) put the goal at $1,000, and had no idea it would get so big.”

Peace to all!

It's not him. Noticed it was MO and not NYC.

Duh.

Kudos to him.

Wow, what an amazing man.

Now Mr. Harris needs to fill out the IRS Form 1099-Misc and report that $14,000 as income, uncle sam needs a piece of his new found wealth, and he needs to do his fair share

But seriously, it shows there is hope for humanity. =]

Blame the new ATS search function.

BTW, a simple "This has been posted" is usually ok without the attitude.

What!? No conspiracy!? You mean he doesn't work for an alphabet agency as an alien super spy? He didn't bug the ring, and lace it with nanoparticles to infect the wearer, and turn her into a zombie? What a waste!

Awesome thread Jude.
Thanks for posting it. It's nice to hear good news for a change.

Lets hope he can get a permanent roof over his head. Maybe his reward for the kindness is motivation to overcome what made him homeless in the first place.

Being homeless sucks, but the hopelessness is what sometimes causes and keeps most people homeless, which I think is worse.

Thank You!

A giving man is one thing...A giving man who has NOTHING to give is quite another.

I truly hope this has the ending that we all need to inspire, relate, understand and learn from.

Peace

No, it is one. It is another poor, black, bearded, old man trying to make the white man trust them. Once he gains the trust... World domination!

Yeah, no kidding. Self-appointed ATS cops are annoying.
