What we call Democracy is a joke!!! My thoughts on the perfect Democractic system

The system I mentioned still has a congress/parliament who's job is to pass laws. This keeps everyone else from having to participate in every little detail of government. There are watch-groups that bring to the public forum laws which may be controversial and gather support to undo them. It is a bit more realistic than having everyone participating in government full-time.

ETA: Keeping the existing institutions of government also makes it acceptable to those who fear that pure democracy would end up in mob rule.

Direct democracy does away with the need for this. You don't need to know who voted how if you can just undo whatever they passed.

Under the system I suggested there would be no need to undo as it would be the will of the majority.
The only reason anything would be undone was if something was shown not to work and the people voted it out

The problem with this is, then you have 51% of the population trampling the rights of the other 49%. This is why America was not meant to be a democracy. No form of government can be equitable to all citizens, as long as their is majority rule. The idea of the constitutional republic is equitable rights for all people. It protects the rights of the individual, without trampling the rights of the majority, and vice versa.

Democracy, by itself, as a form of government, never has, and never will work.

If the running of a country was left to the people they probably would end up as what we would call socialism in that everyone would be looked after and you wouldnt have the massive rich/poor divide we have within our current systems.

I personally dont see socialism as a bad thing

Taxation is a part of every system and has been for a very long time so, no, they will never stop stealing your labor.

I agree that Democracy in the US and the UK is a joke. For both the president and the prime minister, the people do not directly elect them.

No direct election has, I found, meant the president or the prime minister do not care about the people.

Democracy has always been a joke. As has been said many times here, America is not a democracy, it is a republic.

To me that statement never makes sense. Isn't that akin to saying the UK isn't a democracy it's a monarchy?

America is a democracy. Yet I still see the same notion that you mentioned being posted by Americans.

Democracy in the West makes me think of elections they would hold in communist states. Candidates who were chosen and obviously wouldn't rock the boat or effectively change the system but give people the idea that they had a choice and had voted. As citizens in communist countries had not generally lived under democratic systems before the notion that the elections were not strictly free and democratic was not as apparent as it would be to those living in the West.
