Well, you are right about this. I went to a liberal arts college from 2005-2010 and there were a lot of restrictions on freedoms. These days, I don't really adhere to any philosophy but I can get along with most moderates regardless of their affiliation.

Some day people will get over their inabilty to realize that not everyone fits into a neat little box, that the majority out there are individuals, and, most importantly, that liberal, conservatives-theyre all the same in the end. Focusing on hating one group simply compounds the problem.

Yes people are all the same; I suppose that some people, whether liberal or conservative, are unable to self-examine, to see their own faults.

I think in this case I was the one being hated on. My sister equated a commonly held tenet of my faith with radical Islam. To me, that is hate.

Another difference is, I don't ever post on facebook rude comments about liberals. My sister, on the other hand, posts how much she hates Christians, Republicans, etc. ALL DAY LONG, EVERY DAY.

I receive way, way, way more hate from liberals than I ever send out. I am actually trying to live out my faith in the world and I try as hard as I can to be loving, turn the other cheek, etc. Usually I ignore posts like the one I detailed for you, but once in a while I just have to respond. This was one of those cases.

My generalizations about liberals are probably somewhat inaccurate, however, I have consistently experienced this kind of rudeness regarding my faith from liberal people who think themselves enlightened and tolerant. How is my stating this "hate"?

You are not intellectually challenging your own premise. You are either a troll or 15 or simply not that intelligent.
Your post indicate a mental midget mid cartwheel spouting something someone once said. No offense or anything.

I know. How oppresive those liberal arts colleges are. They are known for being oppresive. Kinda like those schools that ban dancing.

I've also met my share of right-wing atheists.

Your generalizations are idiotic. This thread is idiotic. And you should feel idiotic.

How ad hominem came into the American lexicon from liberals then how quick it is to roll off the tongue anytime they get their feelings hurt but deep down they are assholes who have no respect for anyone except people in their stupid little clique like this guy I'm quoting.

Ha ha it really depends on one's political and personal background which school someone would fit in best with and which one someone would feel suppressed in. Personally, I do like Liberal Arts colleges the best - but I am pointing out that the OP is somewhat correct in his assertion.

I think that people are heavily influenced by their surroundings, and that the liberal and conservative factions are becoming super polarized. It is weird, but I think that we might end up with two different systems in the U.S., one that is super corporate and one that is fairly socialist.

Oh also, religion hasn't really been a factor for me for a while, which is interesting - I haven't been around people affiliated with religion for a while, and have still found there to be a liberal vs. conservative divide (I mean liberals and conservatives have both their religious and agnostic / atheist sides to them). This divide is based on economic issues, gender roles and stuff like that -

I am fairly concerned about this polarization, as I think that both factions will be missing some essential parts, and neither one will be balanced - which will probably mean they will become dependent on each other for a balanced system.

Back to the topic at hand, I think that in general a conservative would be less suppressed in a liberal institution than a liberal in a conservative institution, but still notice some things that would bother them.

thank you for your reply.... the verses you cite are in the old testament... key word there is 'old'. I don't just follow that part of the bible, as my sole source. Although I know of others that do.

Any abortion is evil.

It's a side-issue, and I don't know if you intended to... but you proved my point.... Liberals on the whole are Bible-value rejecting.... and not believers, as some in this thread would like to say (to confuse the point).

So, let me get this straight.

You reject the God of the Old Testament and his murdering, aborting and warring ways, but you dismiss "liberals" as mostly being atheists because they reject the "Bible values" that you also reject.

Let me ask you, what laws in the New Testament do you think that today's secular courts and legislators should be enacting and enforcing?

If I don't believe in the God of the Old Testament and his values that doesn't make me an atheist, because you do and you aren't, but rejecting Christianity does?
