This morning information was received from Cambridge Police that there was a person with a long rifle and body armor in the Main Group Building of MIT. Multiple law enforcement agencies have responded, stay indoors and shelter in place and report suspicious activity to the campus police dispatch dial 100. More updates to follow.
Police officials said that person was reported to be inside a building. Officers have searched that building and did not find anything.
The school sent out an emergency alert telling students to stay indoors and away from the Main Group Building, which is where the person in question was seen.
The school is also asking anyone to report any suspicious activity to campus police.
Police responded to report of man w/ gun inside building on Mass Ave. Police searched building w/ negative results. Will update w/ more info
People were warned to stay indoors until further notice from police.
