This finding, coupled with the other research on dolphin speech being intelligent (ATS: Dolphin speech similar to human language), adds more validity to there being another sentient species sharing this planet with us.

If this is confirmed, then could this same approach and research be used if we ever detect an extraterrestrial signal....to decipher if its intelligent and/or a language?
