As always Silo, Beautiful pictures!

Stay safe over there. I look forward to seeing more from this new baby crater.

Boris Behncke has uploaded a video of the eruption, taken from a few different locations.

The "hammering" sound of the explosions, toward the end of video are incredible. I'd love to see and hear this IRL someday.

Thanks for the info and link.

There were two EQ's this morning just at Etna - 2.3's/6's - She doesn't look like it 'did' a lot - but ya never know.

After the eruption and collapse yesterday? Here’s Etna’s NEW crater!

I’m hearing from many fronts this new ‘creation’ is the start of a whole new pattern in her future with the ‘great’ crater (North East) becoming the ‘protagonist’ (instigator) with much more lava flow from the ‘new’ crater (in the black circle).

We shall see!

Have a good Sunday everyone!

peace

What a picture Silo!
Again!
You are making a great record of Etna for future generations.
maybe get all your pics printed into a book on one of those websites, photobook or something.
My bro made me a great one of all my dogs a while back.

Or go for a real publishing deal-I would buy a copy for sure.
So would loads of other folks I bet.
You could just have one pic per page, and a dated description of what happened.
As easy as condensing this very thread into a book.
An important and educational record of events.

I know you said a while back that you would not like to exploit the majestic volcano for financial gain, but this would be a benefit to people, and any money you make would be deserved I think.

I was just thinking silo .. If etna does have a mega eruption do you have an escape route or back up plan. Living so close is understand if you have already thought about a means of escaping and surviving.

Just for the record I really don't wish this to happen. You provide some lovely pictures and videos I hope etna stays the way she is

Ah that's quite mad .. I presumed she would have good knowledge of what it's like and what to do in case of an emergency

So so lucky to be there

Actually it’s not ‘mad’ at all - but a choice.
We never know when we’re going to ‘go’, when our time is up.
I'd like to think I can stare it in the face if I'm given the blessing of seeing it coming.

I tell myself could never ‘run’ from her and leave my home and animals - that leaves very few choices.
I wouldn’t jump into a lava flow but I wouldn’t run and abandon the place.

On the other hand we never really know what we’ll do in a case of disaster. I might run screaming and crying but I don't think so.

Luckily when she does ‘really blow’ I’d fall to the gasses first.

I do appreciate your input though!

Good to see you - I hope you are well and happy.

I’d like to put all the photos together someday in some form - book would be my choice. Include some ’real’ Sicilian recipes.
We’ll see.
Thanks to you I have rethought the whole ’exploitation’ side realizing there are many people that will never get the chance to see ’Her’ - and I wouldn’t want anyone to go without that! Maybe stick a little pouch of ash with the book. You’ve got me thinking for sure and I thank you for that.

There’s been on and off EQ’s the last two days - none over 3.5 but a handful under that. The same type of behavior she showed just before erupting this last time - so - eyes wide open here.

Between now and then? Here’s her first snow. I thought you might like to see it and since it’s a first - here it is!

Her first ash cloud I missed - at just before noon. This one, I almost missed. The below pic I caught just a few moments ago - the fallout from a new ash cloud.

She seems to be heating up. Or maybe she’s just trying to get rid of her first snow cover!?

3 more ash bursts - a thin stream of lava...

I don't know if this new crater is going to do something - or if it's just testing it's wings, so to speak.
