Lovely, silo! That looks so close, how much is your photo zoomed?

It doesn't look as if she is ready to quit just yet...

I thought she was slowing down but as I resized the pic (below) she rocked again.
It's so hard to say - she's been so inconsistent these last couple of session.

Still looking...

Congratulations Etna and Sicily!

This is soooo exciting - and so long in coming! Well done - if not late - UNESCO!

Keep your eyes open people - we just had a very hard hitting EQ.
That or a bomb went off.
Now that I think of it it might have been.
It hit SO HARD with no warning tremors - then did the shake part.
Wow.
That really sucked.
Knocked me out of my chair - no joke.

Thank you - I mean that.
I'm looking around the web for info/answers.
I'm wondering if that was some type of bomb/explosion.
Etna is (looking) quiet and it just hit SO HARD with no warning.
Here it's been my experience you feel a little shake, it grows, then shallows out.
This was bomb like.

Here is a pic of the quake from station ETFI.HHZ.IT.

(well weaksauce--the link won't go directly to this station. You'll have to click the "ETFI" tab to get to it)

It also shows up very strongly on station EMPL. You must have been darn near on top of it Silo. I know you will stay vigilant.

Thanks for the info - I was just going to post something in Italian - your link is better for ATS.

Here is mine though in case anyone is interested - see here MeteoWeb.

And yes - I pretty much was sitting right on top of it.

I am getting info in from friends. They're blaming it on Etna.

Who knows - but we are all thinking this is Etna related and that we need to stay vigilant at this point.

Here's a quick translation of the link I gave in the above post.

A few minutes ago it was felt an earthquake in eastern Sicily. There are many reports received in the newsroom, some of which also speak of a loud roar. We are waiting to know the exact data of the event and any damage caused to persons and / or things.

That link of your shows:

Depth 3 km

Am I correct to say that is worrisome?

Has there been any more shaking at all? Or roaring noise?

That's really shallow; probably why it gave Silo such a jolt.

It would be really worrisome to me if more shallow quakes follow this one. Especially if they were to form a trail back toward the summit--a fissure eruption (or any eruption!) that far down the old girl's flank would be terrible for the people nearby.

But since it is just one, let's hope it was just a minor crustal adjustment.
