Piaggio, and Selex Electronic Systems are working on an unmanned version of the P-180 Avanti. This would be the third Special Missions version of the
Called the P.1HH Hammerhead, it would be capable of 16 hours of loiter time, performing a variety of missions, including SIGINT and ELINT. It would
also be capable of having weapons attached to the forward fuselage. Piaggio hopes to capture a bit of the market of the MALE UAS.
Piaggio would supply the aircraft, and Selex would supply the ground stations, and control electronics. It would be capable of both line of sight and
beyond line of sight by using SATCOM, as well as having a removable section of wing, to allow for transport by truck if necessary.
