Is ATS really a supporter of the Catholic Church generally, and of the pope in particular?

As we all know - ATS management is not obliged to accept every ad proposal that comes it's way so I am posing the question - Is ATS really a supporter of the Catholic Church generally, and of the pope in particular?

As a Christian blogger of some good reputation as well as a being a reporter for an internet news outlet for 'believers' I find myself, almost on a daily basis, scanning so-called off beat 'conspiracy' type websites and forums such as GLP, LetsRoll, ATS, David Icke, Drudge Report etc., for breaking news and/or items of interest. On rare occasions a 'gem' can be found amongst the detritus and debris that is to found there; hence my reason for such momentary lurks however distasteful they might be.

So - When I saw this front-piece ad

SIGN IN AD

I was rather surprised and couldn't help but wonder - Is ATS really a supporter of the Catholic Church generally, and of the pope in particular? Good question I think. If so - what a relief that would be inasmuch as I rarely post in these so-called 'conspiracy' venues mainly because they have a membership that demonstrates - on a daily basis - a virulently anti-Catholic stance given that they are made up mostly of fallen away Catholics, atheists, agnostics and general all around haters of Jesus Christ. Its appalling actually, but not enough to deter completely.

My experience tells me that these kinds of web site/forums really don't have much to do with conspiracies as such, but seem more inclined to protecting the government position - more to gate-keeping for the establishment press and shilling for the official establishment BS line. And censorship abounds as witnessed recently by the scrubbing and outright control of all threads dealing with the topic of Sandy Hook, (see photo below), which is the most aggressive government fraud since 9/11 that has been perpetrated on the American people. BTW the deleterious effects of the total fraud of Sandy Hook on our individual freedoms and constitutional rights will be just as devastating as the false flag of 9/11.

If you have to ask, you've obviously not been paying attention to the recent threads.

And the ads are not related to ATS in any way. Third party companies pick them, and they are SUPPOSED to reflect your choice in internet browsing. So if anyone is to blame, it's you.

It's just an ad that was paid for by a group. There are lots of ads here.
How do you get that ATS 'supports' any particular church?
The posters here are generally not 'pope friendly' at all...
And I've seen no evangelizing towards the papacy by any of the moderators.

Ahhh .. that explains the sudden influx of ads I've seen here for long term storage foods .. we just ordered and restocked our bug out bags ...
I didnt' know that. Thanks for telling me AfterInfinity.

Nope.

I've seen ads that are pro-Christian, anti-Christian. Pro-Israel, anti-Israel. Pro-Islam, anti-Islam. Pro-New Age, etc. Christian singles, Muslim singles. Conspiracy website ads targeting religions, religious ads endorsing a specific religion, etc.

They're just 3rd party ads.

Ad content is based on your internet/search activity. The above quote is why you are seeing that particular ad. The proprietors usually don't espouse too much of their own views publicly for this very reason. Anything they say gets scrutinized, and usually blown way out of proportion. They can't even make a joke without someone going off the deep end.

So in answer to your question. You are not seeing that ad because they support the pope, or the church. You're seeing it because of the sites you frequent.

ETA: Looks like I don't type fast enough.

I disagree with the assessment that the AD's are completely unrelated to the party that hosts them.

Curiously though, does your comment on one's personal browsing choices having an effect on ADS displayed in this Forum imply that different people do not see the same AD's as I do?

And not so incidentally - perhaps this very thread is an AD

That's exactly what it implies. Some ads may be universal to all members, but many of the ads you see are for the aforementioned reasons. I have tested this. It is true.

BUT, I have been seeing that particular AD for 2 weeks running so my present "Quote" does not play a role at this time. I could see it if this were the first appearance of the AD following this posting/thread - but that is still a big maybe - to me at least.

Thanks for your input though............

The ads i see are based on sites i have visited, have tabs still open or if i was looking at scooters i get ads for scooters. The ad in your link if i remember correctly from your link, i didnt seem to get that ad myself, is from "ad choices" so it is based on sites you have visited. You can clear your cookies but i really dont see it as that important because then you will get generic ads anyway. Ads dont bother me on this site because they dont slow down my browser, well just a few milliseconds.

I don't know about the actual site owners, who seem to be pretty neutral, but there are a few moderators who are supportive of the Catholic Church, at least one who is vociferously anti-Catholic, and the majority are ambivalent, so I don't think that the statement that ATS is a supporter of the Catholic Church is a valid one.

As for the site in general, as one would expect from a conspiracy minded audience, the Catholic Church is one of the most vilified organizations in the forums.

If the ad bugs you, there's a thread in the Board Business forum where you can complain about it and request removal, though that's usually for highly annoying ads (like those with sound or mouse-over popups) or those that violate T&C (like porn ads.)

The explanation for that is in your OP:

As a Christian blogger of some good reputation as well as a being a reporter for an internet news outlet for 'believers'

You are seeing that ad because you spend a lot of time on religious web sites and discussing religious topics, the third party advertising companies have tracked you doing so, and they're tailoring your ads to a subject that you're interested in. It has nothing to do with ATS at all, apart from them using a service that provides tailored advertising.

I have nothing against the Catholic church myself. I don't have anything against religions unless they are overly irrational like some of the radical religions around. I don't even even mind the Jehovah Witnesses. If people want to be Buddhists, Hindu, or Muslims I don't care either. I am sure not everyone thinks the same way as I do. I like learning and everyone has something to teach.

I doubt if ATS is a supporter of the Catholic church though. The site is probably somewhat neutral overall as far as religion is concerned..

I feel fairly certain that this website (regardless of its roots) in no way supports any religion or political slant. Considering the diversity of the membership, such would be self-defeating... and weighing the current fad/trend against faith in general, maybe almost suicidal. That said, however, if that particular ad suited your favor, then I am also fairly sure there is no office here that would find disfavor with the same.

Trust me. There are fewer Christians on the staff than there are "others". Those ads are set up as people have already said. They are tailored to your browsing habits. Blame Google, not ATS.

It is yourself that's being tracked, probably in a general way. I get ads on ATS Ireland related, so far they tell me I live in Coleraine, Armagh, Bangor, Newry..... I don't live in any of those places. Use Google chrome, and it is even worse than say AOL, or other server/browsers.
Now, apologise to ATS and it's 'useless eaters'

I am pretty sure they only know where your ISP is located and sometimes it shows up in different towns or they try to get close enough.

It's a wee bit more than that, although what you say is true, but my ISP is in England. What I mean is that all your internet preferences are tracked, and the automation spits out the relevant crap. This is probably why the OP is getting these religious type ads, and I don't

So that's why I get ads with poodles in skirts. I really have to clean my cookies and cache.
