I think I am slowly starting to believe as You are ! I came to this site a while back because I was so interested in the UFO topic and hoped to find more info , but all I have come to realize is that all we have are crappy fuzzy lights and hoaxsters like Hoagland !!

I believe alot of "UFO" crafts are in fact military, like the Avrocar. So my interest has not diminished yet.

I agree. I think there's something out there... it's only mathematical probabilities.

If you would have done that much research, you would understand that the best cases are never made public and most of the time there is nothing other than written documentation of the incedent for evidence to support.

Heres a member from these very boards, a fave of mine called IsaacKoi - ATS has the honor of him been a member. This man has done research to extents you could not imagine.

I understand where your coming from for sure, but seeing is not always believing friend.

There has to be some measure of faith in the matter, as with any other aspect of life. Just because YOU feel like you are getting fed up with waiting for hard evidence, doesn't mean that anything outside this blue marble doesn't exist. Perhaps you should take a hard 5 and stay away from Ufology and paranormal for a while and focus on getting back down to earth.

ok, not that we have that out of the way, I dont think we are "alone", so much as starting to realize that "aliens" were /are just part of an older civilization that may have endured else where while we inherited the earth. Our own defense forces may have SOME high technology we confuse as alien tech. Hell it may be. But the word "alien" should /must change. I think what we consider to be aliens is just another form of US....

I agree - to a point.

I actually think there may be life out there. We are gaining a greater insight into the possibilities of a multiverse (as opposed to a universe) so the chances of us being the only advanced or sentient beings is incredibly small.

However, as it will be an awfully long time (if ever) before we have the technology to explore such vast distances, we may as well be alone. Even if we spot the metaphorical alien waving his hand at us, we won't be able to wave back!

I don't think we are "alone" in the universe per se. What I mean is, I think there are other civilizations out ther, somewhere, in the vastness of space.

HOWEVER, I think for all intents and purposes, we may consider ourselves to be alone -- just like a man alone on a tiny deserted island could consider himself to be alone. There are many more people out beyond the shores of his island, but his island is so small and insignificant, those other people many never happen across that island, even in their sailing ships.

Our pace in the galaxy and universe may be the same thing. The universe -- and even the galaxy -- are so large and Earth is so tiny...

We possibly have never been visited because the Earth could easily be overlooked in the vastness of space. Aliens may have no idea we even exist. We are basically just a spec of dust at the scale of the galaxy -- and we are even smaller at the scale of the known universe; at the scale of the known universe, Earth is so small that it could be considered virtually non-existent.

You may argue that they could know about us through our radio transmissions, but even our radio transmissions have gone basically nowhere in the past 100 years we have been broadcasting Look at the image below. That tiny blue dot in the Galaxy is not even our Sun and solar system. Rather, that tiny blue dot in the image below is the extent of our radio transmissions over the past 100 years (a 200 light year diameter bubble). Our solar system is even smaller than that blue dot:
