I've heard of some quirky pet peeves, but this one is just plain weird. You should maybe log out and just creep the threads, that way there are no avatars, or just do what the person above me said.

No I think it has something to do with eye sight. I wear contacts myself. The animations that show waterfalls and stuff going straight down and not to bright don't hurt, but some kinds are actually hard to be seeing in my peripheral vision while I read, I have to put my hand over them to read the post without pain.

I LOVE the one with Hitler entertaining with a banjo. My favorite by far; it's also the one that keeps me from getting one myself. How do you top Hitler, with with his head thrown back, wailing on a banjo?

I agree that some animated avatars are so fast that they can give a headache, but some are funny, some cool, some sweet and some clever. The ones that are too much for my eyes/brain to handle I just move past their post so I don't see it. Would rather put up with a few annoying ones than lose all the other good/cool/neat ones.

But if it bugs you that much and you don't mind missing out on the nice ones, then just do the escape thing to stop them like the previous poster has suggested

Nope. Animated backgrounds are. Also there are size restrictions upon any animated avatar or signature.
