Paul says he sees voters wanting, quote, "somebody who wants to round people up, put in camps and send them back to Mexico."

Rand Paul says that he will run in 2016 for president if he thinks he can win. Do you think with statements like this, he has a chance? I can already see the press and others calling him racist and trying to discredit him solely from this statement.

Rand Paul's chances are pretty small. The man has embraced the Tea Party pretty damn closely and there is therefore every chance that he will be caught up in the whirlpool as it goes swirling down the political plughole.

Edit: Here's some more information on the good Senator - rationalwiki.org...

I agree that it's laughable, but can you imagine the size of the political trainwreck and how amusing it would be?

Most likely, it would top Romney's Comedic Campaign - The Movie.

I don't see a problem with that, he's not referring to actual immigrants that have come here legally. That is a reference to people who sneak in illegally or have overstayed visas. Try sneaking into Mexico and see how they treat you when you get caught.

It's more a case of the other, nuttier, stuff that Rand Paul has come up with so far. The man's an idiot.

Rand Paul is a status quo republican.

Nothing more. No clue why the dude is almost worshiped. Might as well go worship Romney.

Rand Paul Votes For New Sanctions Against Iran

The U.S. Senate unanimously approved new economic sanctions Friday aimed at further crippling Iran’s energy, shipping and port sectors, a year after Congress passed tough restrictions against Tehran. The amendment, tacked onto a sweeping defense spending bill being debated by the chamber, passed 94-0 and should sail through the House of Representatives.

Rand Paul Fetal Personhood Amendment Stalls Flood Insurance Bill

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) moved this week to hold a noncontroversial flood insurance bill hostage until the Senate agrees that life begins at fertilization.

The bill, which would financially boost the National Flood Insurance Program on the cusp of hurricane season, had been expected to pass easily in the Senate. But since Paul on Monday offered an unrelated "fetal personhood" amendment, which would give legal protections to fetuses from the moment of fertilization, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is threatening to halt progress on the legislation.

Rand Paul is a moron then.

Most people where I come from care more about finding jobs and supporting their families.

Immigration is nothing but a tried-and-true bait tactic that the GOP dangles over its' base, along with states' rights, etc.

I find it interesting that you think immigration is only used by the GOP when in fact the Dems are the ones always appeasing the illegal aliens, even going so far as to give them money,D.L.s, housing, etc. If anything, immigration is a tool used by the dems to get votes from the poor.

Then again, you're a dem so ignorance goes with the territory.

Interesting how John McCain is the guy leading the GOP charge towards immigration reform then isn't it? Why do we always get these kinds of comments attacking Democrats for doing what's right?

www.youtube.com...Press One for EnglsihImigration.....Sure we are all imigrants from one time or another, BUT, there is the legal way and the ilegal way, have a freind who held Mexican and US citzenship, his father was American and his mother was Mexican, when it came time for him (18th Birthday) he choose Mexican, but a few years later he applied for a visa to live with his father, then joined the US Army and Servered 8 years and while in the Army he was taking the Imigaration classes and finally took the test and oath, he worked hard at it and he is the first one I hear to complain about all those here ilegaly. He stated he worked for his citzenship did not get any freebees from the goverment except "Welcome to the United States"

So yes I agree round them all up and send them back to there own contries until they do it the legal way. If we have alot of citzens that did it the legal way why not the rest, we as a country can't have a double standard. I also agree that they should learn to read, speak and write English, they have done it in the past but once again it's the liberal that changed it, God I hate it when I pick up the phone and call some service center and they tell me to press 1 for english or 2 for some language I don't speak.

So you mean to tell us that minorities vote for the party that does not want to break up families and round up immigrants, and wants a humane and comprehensive way of dealing with the immigration problem?

Gee, who would have thunk it?
