I don't agree with US degenerates slaughtering innocent children in Iraq but I have to deal with it.. I'm sure I would be hard up finding facts at Amnesty International since the organisation is a US backed rights group. One thing you need to remember is that Iran have been here a lot longer than your country who after not even 300 years are on the verge of collapse because of their inability to protect their national interests. You country resort to thieving resources off others, destablising smaller countries and then try to show the world how big and tough you really are. Why don't yous go and steal Russias natural gas reserves or something? Go invade China, see how long you last. Your country is not the world role model.. Your country is a disgrace.

Yous run around like yous are the pin up people for the rest of the world to follow yet no-one is following yous because yous are simply insane yourselves. You pray to Jesus, a mere Mortal who did spread great words but simply wasn't god. You people are so corrupt you don't even have a say on the world stage in an ideal world. All your leaders are related in one way or another and to me that smells like dictator#..

You build nuclear weapons to the point you can destroy the world 100 times over and then have the cheek to tell another country that they cannot persue them even though they aren't persuing them and are only standing up for their right to use nuclear energy. Your media outlets are nothing but liars, but Americans buy it hook, line and sinker on a regular basis to the point they are out in the streets with their flags wanting to bomb the crap out of another innocent country.

You have people like the Westboro Baptist Church, Terry Jones - the guy who jerks off to burning Korans and inciting violence amongst Muslims, Drone weddings in Northern Pakistan, Allow rogue states to bomb Women and Children with no punishment or consquence, incite unrest in countries through the very people which have been portrayed as evil over the last 11 years, your country is nothing but one big lie, one big fat pile of puke, one massive hypocrite. You Government are NAZIS, they are coming for your rights now because people are starting to see riht through them.. Its only a matter of time before your country is going through the same as the ME..

Maybe you should worry about your own backyard first.

Where was your outrage when this happened?

"California city bans public Christmas decorations"

mobile.bbc.co.uk...

This just isn't happening in California either.

www.freerepublic.com...

Personally I can't stand either government but this finger pointing isn't going to solve anything.

FF, admit it...both IRAN and the USA suck

ABC News - Iran Launches Holy War on Haircuts

The faces and bodies of young Iranians have long been part of the political arena, an extension of Islam's role in governing public life. By law women must cover their heads and bodies; men are encouraged to grow beards (a sign of faith), discouraged from wearing neckties (too foreign), and now, banned from getting hip hairstyles (too subversive).

Iran launched a crackdown on so-called 'Western' hairstyles in 2007, yet the streets of Iran remain a mix: some men bearded and in conservative clothing – a way to wear their faith - and others in blue jeans, ponytails and long hair, or sporting the spiky style. At times police have cracked down on what has been deemed illegal hair or dress, just as they have clamped down on women whose head scarves reveal too much scalp

Images from Iran - women wearing hajib

Iranian 'morals police hit the streets

Local media published pictures of police men and women belonging to the "chastity squads" who detained for questioning women who were not wearing their traditional hijab headscarf properly. Some women were arrested and taken to police stations across the city until they could post bail. The authorities went as far as to fine some of the 'sinners' for their behavior

That also kinda kills your 'law' stating that women can't wear hajib or head scarves ...

Like I said ... what's on the law books and what is practiced are two different things.

Iran is a secular nation,

If they were really a secular nation, I'd applaud it.

Yeah and with that, the Saudis have been releasing murderers, pedophiles and any other criminal willing to fight against what the west calls the Axis of Evil
Give me a break, I'm sure Buddhists could think of worse things to happen to them around statues being confiscated.

Didn't see it. But I did do a thread about California being a nanny state
because they want to ban Goldfish Sales. Does that count??

My ATS Thread from 6/11 - What the heck is wrong with San Francisco, Nanny State Gone Wild

FF, admit it...both IRAN and the USA suck

Both Iran and the USA are sucky. Iran sucks more.
The USA is on it's way to failing.
(just watching one Jerry Springer Show will prove that!!)

That being said .. I think we are all capable of pointing at the USA when it messes up (like my goldfish thread) and we are all capable of pointing at Iran when it screws up (like with the little buddah statues that the government is so terrified of). Well .. SOME of us can do both. A few on this thread are incapable of admitting that Iran isn't perfect.

No, Iran is just doing what they see fit and I'm sure if we were to dig a bit deeper into the issue instead of using some Western MSM we may understand why this is being done.

If thats the case, then I will find out exactly why they are doing what they have.

Some Iranians buy Buddha statues to decorate their homes and cars. Most are made in China and come from Iranian free-trade zones in the Gulf.

"As I understand, none of the customers cared about Buddhism, they only bought it for decoration," said Reza Sanaei, a shopkeeper who sells the statues.

A customer, Marjan Arbabi, said she personally did not like the statues. "But my parents have a set of five Buddha statues at their home simply because they think the statues are beautiful," she said.

So Buddhists aren't even buying the statues? These are being used as decorations in Muslims homes. If anything, this is a good thing for buddhism..

Gawd ure a lost individual... How can you judge a nation without EVER BEING there...
Have you even read how Israel got their country?... Have you read the rules of engagement of the vietnam war?.
DID THEY FIND WMD in Iraq?...
Why did Libya export 0% of their natural resources to "western society" pre-invasion?
Now they export like 88% to the western world... Weird the richest country in Africa gets invaded, and the new leaders of the nation starts to trade with the western world...
I wonder if its the same in any other nation Britain's lapdog USA have invaded, with their economic "assassins" or simply by warfare...

I wonder, i wonder... Why didnt U.S.A listen to France saying that the entire japanese navy was on their way to Pearl Harbor... And France wasnt the only one that warned them...
Why did they gather their entire navy there?, and didnt listen to the warnings...

Cause its all about the $$...
They are #ing western society in the a-hole. War is depth/money/resources.
"hey lets make a nation with a currency backed by nothing but what old men determine its worth".
Then lets borrow #LOADS of money, until the system collapse... No problem, we will get rich no matter what, but who will pay the bill? the people? YEP TROLOLOLOL.

US is the 2'nd worst country in the world... Terrorist nation... Britain is nr. 1

Look at my thread history. I make a lot of threads about different subjects.

Is that so? Not being funny but the majority of the time lots of your threads have a Muslims are evil slant to them or they're bashing Iran.

Considering this I haven't really had much inclination to see if you've posted anything else worth reading.

Another poster mentioned the U.S. support for Saudi Arabia which is obviously hard for you to reconcile with your hatred of Iran. It's a relevant point in terms of how you're so quick to point the finger at Iran.

If you look at Iranian history you might begin to understand even in a small way why the country is the way it is and why their government acts the way it does.

So Buddhist statues are being removed? Like you're really bothered? Some have already pointed this out, but although Buddhism can generally be classed as a religion it is also more of a philosophy and way of life.

I agree that if there are Iranians who choose to be Buddhist then they should have that right, but I doubt whether removing Buddhist statues is going to seriously inconvenience them in their efforts to follow Buddhist principles.

Absurd.

US is the 2'nd worst country in the world... Terrorist nation... Britain is nr. 1

By your strange standards of decision making, for you to say that means you
would have to have visited the USA and Britain in order to qualify to be able to say
that America or Britain have done something wrong.

Pretty ignorant standards to decide if a country is doing something right or not.

A person doesn't have to visit a country to know if that country is doing something wrong.
A person isn't 'a lost individual' because they are able to read Amnesty Internationals
reports on human rights abuses in Iran.

jeeeeze ...

Religous and cultural freedom is alive and well in Iran ... NOT!

Iran confiscates Buddha statues to stop promotion of Buddhism

Buddha statues have joined Barbie dolls and characters from "The Simpsons" TV cartoon as banned items in the conservative Muslim nation. Authorities are confiscating Buddha statues from shops in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to stop the promotion of Buddhism in the country, according to a report Sunday in the independent Arman daily.

Iran has long fought against items, such as Barbie toys, to defuse Western influence, but this appears to be the first time that Iranian authorities are showing an opposition to symbols from the East.

The newspaper quoted Saeed Jaberi Ansari, an official for the protection of Iran's cultural heritage, as calling the Buddha statues symbols of "cultural invasion." He said authorities will not permit a specific belief to be promoted through such items. Ansari did not say how many Buddhas had been seized, but that the "cleansing" would continue.

'Cultural invasion' eh? :shk:
Iran doesn't mind exporting their muslim culture.
But it sure doesn't want any Buddhist culture/religion in it's country.
Hypocrisy.
The 'cleansing' will continue says the powers in charge of Iran.

So in Iran ... no barbie dolls, no squirt guns, no open toed sandals for women, no Buddah statues, and don't be a Christian Pastor because you'll get the death penalty. Yep ... :shk:

From Buzzfeed .. things banned in Iran
Mullets, g-mail, gaysex, Valentines day, spiked hair, the DaVinci Code, grills (teeth), skinny jeans, tatoos, youtube, petcats, barbie, Harry Potter, George Michael, Kenny G, Batman, Jorts, Facebook, Cleavage, neckties, 300, studying political science, ponytails, rap, alcohol, pork, protein supplements, brightly colored clothes, pet dogs, mannequins

And is Religous and cultural freedom is alive and well in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain,Qatar?

Even if what you claim were true, what places Islam and Iran beyond criticism?

• 1 in 8 American Muslims polled believe that Muhammad's critics should face the death penalty.

• Nearly Half of U.S. Muslims polled believe that critics of Muhammad should be criminally prosecuted

• 58% of American Muslims polled said criticism of their religion or of Muhammad should not be allowed under the Constitution

• 68% of British Muslims pooled believe that people who insult Islam should be arrested and prosecuted.

Touchy bunch those Muslims.

Some have already pointed this out, but although Buddhism can generally be classed as a religion it is also more of a philosophy and way of life

And others, such as myself, pointed out that's completely totally irrelevant.

There are many different forms of Buddhism. Some are treated as a religion. Include dogma, ritual, worship, even deity.

Yes Buddhism can generally be classed as a religion. That's enough.

Again, this is not about the 'correct' way to practice/interpret Buddhism. This is about religious tolerance, and discriminating against a Buddhist because that person is not practicing it 'correctly' is not religious tolerance.

This would be like if the USA discriminated against Mormons because they are not 'real Christians'. Would that be the USA being true to freedom of religion?

Wiki: God in Buddhism(click link to check citations and for further reading ):

Despite this apparent non-theism, Buddhists consider veneration of the Noble ones very important, although the two main traditions of Buddhism differ mildly in their reverential attitudes. While Theravada Buddhists view the Buddha as a human being who attained nirvana or Buddhahood, through human efforts, some Mahayana Buddhists consider him an embodiment of the cosmic Dharmakaya, born for the benefit of others. In addition, some Mahayana Buddhists worship their chief Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara, and hope to embody him.

Buddhists accept the existence of beings in higher realms (see Buddhist cosmology), known as devas, but they, like humans, are said to be suffering in samsara, and are not necessarily wiser than us. In fact the Buddha is often portrayed as a teacher of the gods, and superior to them. Despite this there are believed to be enlightened devas.

Some variations of Buddhism express a philosophical belief in an eternal Buddha: a representation of omnipresent enlightenment and a symbol of the true nature of the universe. The primordial aspect that interconnects every part of the universe is the clear light of the eternal Buddha, where everything timelessly arises and dissolves.
