On Feb. 15 cockpit footage of a Rafale taking off and what appears to be a backseater in a two seat Rafale searching for targets using a targeting pod was released. The footage finishes with two Rafale taking on fuel from a US Air Force KC-135 of the 100th Air Refueling Wing, normally based at RAF Mildenhall (UK) but are operating out of Moron airbase Spain.

I am not commenting on the politics behind the Mali war. I just posted a nice vid of a Rafale jet takeoff. These old french Dassault crates from the 80s are a sight like no other.

Thanks for that, it's a nice video, too bad they hid the annotations.

I wonder if the Samsung is part of the standard equipment.

Only to someone that hasnt had that feeling when you make that final turn on the runway before you light `em up, Then hello blue sky!

AAAWWWW YEEAAHHH! Goosebumps everytime.

Cockpit layout is a hell of alot simpler than a F-15C by far

I`ll take one in black please

Umm... its not a crate from the 80's.

Its a semi-stealthy 4th Gen fighter thats almost as good as a Typhoon, comparable with a SAAB Gripen and entered service in 2004. Its one of the best jets of its type currently in service anywhere in the world.

In close combat, 'almost' gets you killed.

Except that the Typhoon can take just about anything else out there. Which means by extension, this will do very nicely in air to air. It does quite nicely in air to mud already.

True. In right hands the Typhoon is a real nightmare in the skies, even to jocks flying 5th gens like F-22 or F-35s.

In the transonic range, the F-35 will stop accelerating and struggle like a bitch to reach a suitable speed of Mach 1.5+. The Typhoon just accelerates with a steady pull,

Additionally...If you ever encounter a hostile Tyhoon beyond visual range, you better be a lucky SOB, or you are a dead duck for sure.
