You need a multi-quote button!!!!!

You need a button for quoting multiple posts in one reply.

So that way when your replying to people you don't need to make multiple posts.

It's not that hard to do. I figured it out a few months ago. Just copy the code from the reply screen from one post then reply to another post and paste the code on to the new screen and voila! two replies in one post.
I hope that makes sense, I'll try to explain it better if you want.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. I'm not against it either though. If they did implement something like that, I hope they don't crack down on multiple posts like some other forums do.

It kind of makes me mad reading 6 or 10 posts of just one person replying to 6 people.

because sometimes in the time it takes to reply 3 more other post pop up so its crazy.

I was thinking about the not so tech smart people.

No offence to anyone

one button to respond to multiple posts?

Im so glad Im not a dev here.

Reminds me of someone requesting a href to two sources--except the link had to intuitively know what source the user wanted to return, without any prior input from the user.

Hey while were at it lets have an animated gif background... /* End Sarcasm */

I have been looking for an easy way to do this. I tried highlighting what I want to quote and then hit reply or quote but alas, nothing. I think that would be a good way to do it.

One button to intuitively know which posts you wish to reply to...

A checkbox on each post to select which your are replying to would work, but that is not a "one button" to quote multiple posts.

The way I do it:
1)Middle mouse scroll on some mouses) the reply button at the top of the page, that opens up reply in it's own window.
Then for each one I want to quote, I middle click the quote button, then delete everything but [ quote][ i]Originally posted by whoever[ / i] and what I want to respond to. Sometimes I got to cut it all into seperate quote boxes, and paste the [ quote][ i]Originally posted by whoever[ / i] into the top of each one. Then paste all the quotes into the first reply page opened and respond there. It is kind of a pain, but that is the easiest I have come up with. Hard coding this into a the website would be a nightmare, if even possible at all.

Oh I should mention, I have gotten PMs from people suggesting that it is not a good idea to respond this way. It doesn't notify anyone that they are replied to via message that way. It seems it is better practice to give each user their own reply, with the reply button on individual posts.

All hail the right click button and "open link in new tab".

Open each post you wish to quote and copy them into one single post reply.

simples.

That's how I do it. Quick and painless, and easy enough for even me to do- and I am technologically impaired!

Um no one is more than enough; for people to take something out of context as it is. It seems professional trolls like to pick and choose different sentences, take them out of context to hammer their own point that has nothing to do with the original context as whole.

In the same way people can do the same thing with the bible; to make it affirm any point they want it to make, call it a sermon, then say that's what they should believe.

No thanks.

Actually, if done right, it does notify all users. I have seen it tested. However, I'm not sure what the user did to make it happen now.

Actually, I agree with the OP. Some form of a multi-quote button would be nice. But I'm not so sure SO is going to knock himself out to do that right now. He's got a lot of other things going that are a handful as it is from what I understand.
