edit to update ... found this

It may not have been as spectacular as the space snowball that streaked across the skies above Russia late Thursday, but the Bay Area's close encounter with a meteor Friday night was drawing its own attention on social networks.

Comments on Twitter indicated the object that flashed across the horizon around 8 p.m. was blue in color and visible from the Peninsula to at least the eastern reaches of Contra Costa County and as far away as Red Bluff

Good point...I watched a segment on tv earlier tonight about how that can happen. How big asteroids can knock smaller ones out of the asteroid belt and sen them to earth....maybe it was a planned TV show to warn us in some weird way? I thought it was odd the show was on.

The asteroid that passed by obviously has a debris field with it. I doubt there is any danger.

I watched a documentary today on the History Channel about asteroids. Two things I found very interesting:

1. They are finding that some asteroids are actually binary and orbit one another.

2. Many asteroids have smaller asteroids much like moons that orbit them. While the larger asteroid can withstand a planet's gravitational pull, the smaller asteroids orbiting them get pulled in and, in the case of Earth, burn up in the atmosphere or make impact with our planet.

Maybe 2012 DA14 had a few of these "moons" and this is what we are seeing get pulled into our atmosphere.

Just a theory.

I think these things happen a lot more than most people realise.

Its just that in the next few days, its "topical", and every single last one of them will be internationally reported.

This is starting to get a bit scary... this can't be just coincidence...

Here is the picture taken of the one that was seen in many parts of CA:

I can't recall a time in my lifetime where there have been this many close encounters at one time.

Yes, I noticed this also. Posted in another thread earlier that every show on the History Channel today was about some type of asteroid apocalypse. Not sure if it was clever programming given the close pass today, a quick programming change in response to Russia, or TPTB warning us.
