Everyone loves to get a tax refund. Even though it’s the government giving you your own money back, it’s a nice surprise at the beginning of the year to get a check in the mail. It’s certainly better than having to owe money, right? And while most people will grumble under their breath about having to pay taxes in the first place, those of us who do not watch Fox News fully understand that out taxes pay for many of the things we take for granted, like clean water, sanitation, the police, Facebook…

Wait. What? Facebook?!

That’s right. You, the taxpayer, are paying for Facebook with your tax dollars

Earlier this month, the Facebook Inc. released its first “10-K” annual financial report since going public last year. Hidden in the report’s footnotes is an amazing admission: despite $1.1 billion in U.S. profits in 2012, Facebook did not pay even a dime in federal and state income taxes.

I could list all the major corporations that pay Zero tax liability, but thats been done to death, just add Face book to the list of corporate leaches bleeding America dry.

This is what happens when you allow corporate lobbying, cash equals free speech so or reps hear the corporations first before they hear us.

actually federal taxes pay for none of things you mentioned.. local taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, property taxes, vehicle taxes.. They all make the world go round.. The federal taxes just to towards paying on our debt that the federal government continues to grow.. which doesn't even cover the interests on that money they borrow..

But yah facebook.. they suck my balls.

The signs at the entrance to roadway work zones that list the different funding sources disagree with you. They all show that at least a portion of the work is funded by fed bucks. Right or wrong...

Yep, federal monies are definatley used for road construction, education, public health.

This is one of the ways that the feds maintain their control over the states. "Oh, you don't want to comply with the 65mph speed limit? -- Well, no federal road money for you!"

See, states have to comply with federal regulations or force giving up their federal funding. D.C. basically blackmails states into conforming. It's not right, but most states couldn't fully support themselves without federal assistance.

Meh, FB not paying taxes irks me. But honestly not as much as oil companies not paying. At least FB doesn't make me pay four bucks a gallon every single time I have to do anything that involves leaving the house.

For me the part that enrages me is that these Corporations are considered to have the same rights as a person. But when we start discussing the deficit, suddenly I am faced with armies of furious middle classed folks who want to blame the impoverished for it all???

It just shows how effective brainwashing is IMO.

The reason FB got the return is because they had previously overpaid the IRS. Also, CTJ doesn't seem to know the deference between Options and Restricted Stock Units. RSU's are taxed as normal income. The claim of 2.17 Billion is actually the most FB could get back in the future from this event. Most likely they will see much less.

CTJ is a biased group with an agenda and they distort the truth to achieve their goals.

It's not theft if you voluntarily give it away.

Facebook is a Frankenstein's monster. It's body consists of a billion or so cells. Your neighbour, your grandmother, your kids, all part of the monster. But people never take responsibility for their own actions. They blame the weather, they blame God, they blame Facebook. Facebook ruined my marriage blah blah blah. Facebook is the sum of its parts, not simply a name you can pin blame to in order to avoid the simple fact that it's you and your friends and your family and all the people on your friends list that you never speak to, it's your fault, because you are Facebook, duh.

Stealing from yourself then moaning about it, classic.

This is a PRIME example, of kickbacks for playing ball with the Govt.!!!

FB lets the feds use their platform to do ALL KINDS of snooping and testing of their latest toys, and FB's owners make BANK!

Pathetic......

Apples and Oranges. If you gave it to them on the basis that you give up any and all rights to your card information and that they can do whatever they want with that information, then yes. But you don't give a credit card that sort of freedom, yet people do with Facebook.

It's all in the terms and condition and the other parts people cannot be bothered to read. Laziness. Then they have the gumption to expect people to feel sorry for them when the photo of their 14 year old is used to peddle soft porn after Facebook sold the usage rights for it to some unknown third party. It stopped being yours when you gave it to them, and you agreed to it without reservation. Your own fault. (not you personally but you get the point)

Yeah yeah, sadly all true.

However Facebook are pretty bad for violating there own terms and conditions with regards to privacy and data mining, usualy resulting in out of court settlements, ticking off from government regulators and a revision of there own privacy settings.

But then people should be aware of the nature of the beast they are dealing with.

The people are the beast. No people, no Facebook. It really is that simple.
