What scares me is that no government cares enough to allocate the appropriate resources for both detecting them and destroying them. What good is detection if you have no defense system in place? It is like a ground radar system(called early detection system in the af) without the surface to air missles to shoot down planes.

I don't know. Maybe I am becoming dense or expect too much from our 3000 year old civiliation. You would think since we have perfected computers, sent up satelites, developed nukes, developed high energy lasers and even plasma weapons SOMETHING would be orbiting the sky just for defense against any space threat.
