No, DA-14 did not enter our atmosphere, and yes if it did it would explode a lot like this one.
It is not how ever closer than our satellites this is a misconception.
It is attracted by Earth's gravity, how ever it's forward momentum and mass keep it going instead of it being sucked into earth. If it was just
floating there, yes earth would probably draw it in, but I believe DA-14 is traveling some 17kilometers a second, or something ridiculous like that.
Not going to happen.
