I dont want to say it happened over PA, but what got me on here and found this thread is that my gf and I are enjoying "v-day" when she saw a "white flash" light up the sky, and if it was related, I heard a rumble after like thunder and even ran to the door and opened it to listen more carefully, but then i heard a large truck drive by and it cancelled out the rumble. Also the rumble may have been the truck. The flash def lit up the sky like lightning however.

CNN has avoided reporting about it.

Someone posted this link earlier on in the thread: www.kxl.com...

And I'm listening to it, someone named Clyde. He said he is receiving pictures and reports of fireballs and loud booms from all around the world. Take that for what it's worth.

ETA:

While I was posting this a guy called in from Puerto Rico to report one, and then his cell phone dropped off.

Hmmm with something like this id say the crank call ratio to genuine events would be pretty high this far along. Bound to be a good deal of polluting rubbish claims coming in, as it tends to always happen this day and age

That being said... im off to the horses paddock to sky watch for a bit

Edit:- and im fully aware the chances of seeing something related to this here in NZ is almost nill, but hey might get lucky.

Edit 2:- Ah poop... seems im just a tad to far south to see the actual asteroid with my old trusty binoculars **shakes fist**

Just a thought. What if the meteorite, or one of the pieces of it, hit some type of plant with dangerous chemicals or something along that line.

I'd rather a News source take its time and report, than be hasty and get it all wrong.

According to unconfirmed reports, the meteorite was intercepted by an air defense unit at the Urzhumka settlement near Chelyabinsk. A missile salvo reportedly blew the meteorite to pieces at an altitude of 20 kilometers.

Kinda reminds me of when I was a kid and they were doing a re-run of War of the Worlds by Orsen Wells on the radio. It was good entertainment at least.

Nothing like the past 10 years of activity. We had an earthquake here in V.A. not too long ago, and we've never had an earthquake like that on the east coast... the whole east coast from atlanta to new york was bouncing up and down...
