A little over 20 years since the horrific murder of little 2 year old James Bulger by two 10 year old boys, Robert Thompson and Jon Venables, pictures are circulating online of somebody supposedly who is Jon Venables today. Those posting images on Twitter have been threatened by the Attorney General that they may face prosecution for contempt of court of a worldwide ban on anybody publicly naming the identities or whereabouts of either Thompson or Venables:

www.independent.co.uk...

I find it appalling the lengths gone to in order to protect these two, not to mention the costs involved. During their laughable sentences of 8 years each they were treated to trips outside, even a day out to Old Trafford to watch Manchester United (as part of their rehabilitation :mad

Venables was convicted of child porn charges since his release and received a light sentence of just 2 years (which he had a good laugh about):

www.mirror.co.uk...

What is it with these two? Why the leniency for such evil crimes and the huge effort to protect them?

So you want everyone to know who they are? and where they live? sorry no because they would get murdered, I know many people think they should be but I think second chances should be given to people even If they do a terrible crime.
The idiots are the twitter users who put it out there, I hope and expect them to be charged.

He had a second chance and used it to delve into child porn. I'm not saying they should be murdered, my beef is that honest hard-working tax payers money goes into protecting them and the ridiculously lenient sentences.

No one deserves to die, especially for something done durring the fragile stage of adolescence. Also, vigilante justice is almost never the answer. Sorry, but I disagree with you vehemently. There is a reason why they are being protected.

I think they should be public now.

If nothing else, to prevent some innocent person being associated with the crime, as even a cursory google image search reveals similar faces..

And we know what sort of world it is, where someone looks dodgy then they're guilty...

sadly..

And the poster above is right, the freak got nabbed storing cp. He should be .. well I'll not go there, might incur another warning.. :^/

The source added: “He then went off and spent an hour on the phone ringing his family and his solicitor.” Angry Venables then demanded his cell to be locked early on Friday – just after 5pm – which he never normally requests.

He then spent the evening on his Nintendo Game Cube playing his favourite game – the violent war game Medal of Honor – while gorging on chocolate bars.

Surely this is a mirror beat up.

Or did they really send this punk to a holiday camp?

far out... who would be afraid to be a pervert in prison.. you're worse off being a poor schmuck busted for a plant.

I remember this story. Those animals took that baby from the mall and beat him to death with rocks and left him to die by some railroad tracks..

I cant believe theres people who think they should be out of jail. I also cant believe they are still alive I woulda been waiting at the prison gates to exact my revenge.

They deserve whatever the hell they get

Venables and Thompson abducted James from the Bootle Strand shopping centre in Merseyside before torturing and killing him. The two boys, who were truanting from school, walked James around the streets of Liverpool for more than two miles, stopping occasionally to kick and punch him. They told adults who intervened that he was their brother. After taking him to a nearby railway line, they left his body on the tracks in the hope it would be destroyed by a train. The toddler had been splattered with blue paint and his battered head lay surrounded by a pile of bricks. His body was found two days later by children playing on a freight railway line.

fragile stage of adolescence.

or the forming minds of future serial killer slash child rapists.

in my humble and ignorant opinion, I'd pull the lever to hang them both. then or now.

Eye for an eye

I can forgive kids for almost anything, but if you beat a 5 year old to death with rocks you lose your right to live in society I dont care how old you are..

What the hell is wrong with the Uk government?

According to Wikipedia:

By the age of 14, Thompson was taken on outings to the theatre, the Lake District, and shopping centres, where he could spend some of the £60-per-month allowance he received. At the age of 16, he acquired a girlfriend, a fellow inmate who served time in the unit for one year. Venables was taken on trips to Wales, swimming in Wigan, and once to watch a Manchester United football match at Old Trafford

Most people I know can't afford trips to the theater or football matches

In the 20 years since this happened I have been partial to many conversations on the subject, and have never once heard any compassion for the killers the likes of which boymonkey74 and Bronynonymous have come out with. Maybe you guys are not from the UK and don't know the full story. The details leading up to the murder are so disturbing it's not something I wish to ever read again.

It goes way beyond the "fragile stage of adolescence"

I disagree. I strongly believe in forgive and forget. But also, as I stated previously, these were 10 year olds. I don't know what you were like when you were 10 but I know that the things I did back then are very different from how I would handle them now. I can hardly remember all the endeavors of my adolescent years, so I don't think I should be held accountable for them now. I remember stealing a lot of money from my 3rd grade teacher durring lunch break, I got caught and punished then, I shouldn't still be labeled a thief for something I did in 3rd grade.

They were just just 10 themselves though?

Not sure what else to say....i hardly remember being me at 10.
Something was bad wrong then....which probably explains having child porn later..i did .not understand
They made it, just one had some?

Some people should infact just be removed from society.

Anyone with a brain will take the pictures and torrent them with dox.

I say removed, I really mean eliminated.

A "normal" 10 year-old has empathy - couldn't hurt a puppy - let alone stone to death a 5 year-old child.

These animals will again torture and kill. I do hope it is someone who is as stupid as you two, and not another innocent person.

Forgive and forget???? What! I'm sure Jamie's mother will never be able to do that, the thought of her defenceless 2yr old son being tortured and beaten, left to die on a railway line, then sliced in half by a train...Oh yeah, nothing to see here, move along..sheesh!

Initially giving both boys new identities was fair enough, as they were only 10 yrs old, although I don't believe for one minute that they could not possibly have thought that what they were doing was terribly wrong. However, Venables re-offended, and as a result, his new identity was revealed and now he wants another new identity to protect him. No way should he get this, he is still a danger to the public, particularly when you consider his most recent crime is related to child porn, why the heck should he be allowed to roam freely, he could be housed in a street with young children and no one is allowed to know who he is...until he perhaps abducts another toddler. I'm sorry but I don't think it is worth the risk.

Do the crime, do the time, Venables had his second chance and he blew it, tough cookies for him.

Another thing thanks to the idiots who posted his face on twitter he will have to be moved and that will cost us alot of money.
Of course what they did was wrong but we can not lock up 2 10 years olds for ever, like I said people do change for the better.
