Nope, only winners will receive writer status.

Although I will admit that anybody who shows frequent participation in these things will gain the title eventually .

There is a first, second, and third place. They all get Writer status. C'mon, toss something into the mix. You never know, you may get third, but still get Writer status. You won't know until you enter. Just do it.

It's happened that way for quite a few of us, myself included. It did take a few months and consistent entry into the comps, but you do get noticed and eventually get Writer status..

My suggestion would be the same as the others, put something out there. We're a pretty cool bunch here, not many 'shoot-you-downs' and general encouragement and constructive criticism.

Besides, very few of us are professionals at this (Slayer and Beezzer the possible exceptions?), we do it for the love of writing.

The gauntlet is on the ground my friend. Time for your challenge.
