What had started out as a month with relatively low coalition fatalities has just had a turn for the worse with a report that eight US Marines were killed in Al-Anbar province.

The Marines were assigned to the I Marine Expeditionary Force and were conducting increased security operations.

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Eight U.S. marines were killed and nine wounded in action west of Baghdad Saturday, the U.S. military said.
It gave no details on the deaths, which it said occurred in the restive western province of Anbar, which includes the rebel -held cities of Falluja and Ramadi.
