New domain names by 2005

the .post and .travel names have already been approved with 8 more waiting for approval.

.asia - for Asian companies
.cat - for Catalan language and culture
.jobs - for employment agencies/human resources
.mail - to help anti-spam efforts
.mobi - for mobile phones/devices
.tel - to help voice over net telephony (two proposals)
.xxx - for pornographers

The .xxx name is unlikely to be approved as it has been proposed many times in the past but has always been rejected.

Another fact that is related in a small way, is that the Iraq government is now trying to take back the .iq name from a Texas company currentley in ownership of the name. This was not something Saddam was seeking to aqquire, this is a goal of the new government.

Its quite dumb that .xxx keeps getting rejected too.

If they would force pornography sites to use the .xxx extension, it would be a whole lot easyer to block all porn sites from networks.

Now you need expensive applications and networking equipment to do content filtering of your users internet traffic.

Oh, hey, thats maybe why, there are company's making a bundle thanks to porn and spam!!

Very excellent point on the .xxx it would even be better to go farther and impose fines for porn on any other domains as to restrict it to solel .xxx

about the .iq domain...isn't it odd that it's in the possession of a TEXAN company? not a new york or washington state one.hmmmmmmmmm
