the dark and light areas have/are circles with gear-thingies intersecting and able to turn round each other, the hexagrams are at the touching points (make 12 line symbols on contact), can be built with nested yin yang symbols,

Well, I clearly see your avatar reads like the story of the Rockefellers and the JP Morgan's of the world and it sums up the entire Tesla life experience.
Unfortunately, I do not know if this applies to you directly but what I see in there is this: You feel that you are cutting edge and bring forth great ideas only to be a puppet to the industry you serve, to whom your efforts are expendable.

I get that from the knowledge that Tesla brought forth that we use today but some of his best and brightest works have been squashed by the rich corporate folks who played him like a puppet, pulled his strings and ultimately left him virtually poor so that they could put america on the fast track to buying energy he had proved at one time to be so cheap to make that they could give it away to the masses. So greed interferes with progress.

Sorry if this is not even close. I have been writing code all evening and just thought I'd give the brain a rest.

BTW: I do not have an avatar yet as I am still fairly a newbie here and I have so many diverse interests/hobbies that I have not created a suitable one yet.

Wow! That was quick! But not quite. The idea is to preserve the integrity of the circle visually - so the gear thingies are more discreet, and the hexagram symbols are on both the inside (female) and outside (male) so that the 12-line symbol results from the gear contact - am I being clear? (might be too tired - way past my bedtime)

ALSO - ignore those little center circles - the important ones are the implied dark/light circles (with tails)
AND - the point of contact is exactly where you have it, except the 'circle' to work with is the implied one

Are you sure you want to keep doing this? Either way, thanks. ...the gear things need to be on the 'outer' circle of your diagram - each circle shld have 8 extrusions + 8 indents to make 16 contact points (the next size has 32 + 32 to make 64 contacts), in a physical model magnets wld be used to make it turn

ED to add - somewhat like this? (except curved around outer edge circle, fitting together)

my avatar is for Valentino Rossi, my favourite motogp rider. I don't see how that reveals much about me? I love motorbikes in general.

Well to me what it means is your a here I am kinda guy. Very direct and honest, not a in a negative way but in that you dont see the point in sugar coating who you are or what you you feel. You have a hidden artistic desire or talent, even though it may not be traditonaly artistic to the others, to you it is art. And you may be down on your luck here and there but you pick up, dust off and carry on.
