So my wife took our 9 month old daughter into the doctor's office for her checkup, my wife was told the county we live in does NOT have fluoride in the water supply......

Here I sit listening to her and am thinking GREAT, now I don't have to fear drinking our tap water when I mix iced tea or coolade.....

But wait, it get's better!!

She didn't tell me anything else, so we go out to the pharmacy to get a cream we got for her, she has 2 minor patches of dry skin we can't get cleared up, so the doc gave us a prescription moisturizing cream to put on her to clear that problem up...

So we pickup the cream, we get home and she takes it out of the bag, I see another box in there also and pulled it out, lo and behold it is FLUORIDE pills for a supplement.....

I asked my wife why she even bought these because I am not giving them to our daughter....She said she didn't buy them.......THEY WERE FREE!!!

She said the doctor told her we have to supplement her FLUORIDE pills for......Wait for it.........9 yes that is not a typo, 9 mother effin years!!!

So my wife, the average person who doesn't research this POISEN says to me, the doctor wouldn't prescribe it if it wasn't good for her............So needless to say the pills are in my possesion until she researches the topic....

Now, if she shows me a benefit to this I will reconsider my very strong approach of I will never give my daughter this poisen......BUT, if she finds out what I believe, then needless to say we will be switching doctors and throwing these fluoride supplement pills in the trash never to be seen again!!

What are your thoughts ATS? If you agree with the doctor, I would like some proof to substantiate your side, if not tell me I am not crazy and send some links so I can show the wife.......I showed her a couple that the government issued their statement to get rid of this from public water supplies because of the link to cardiovascular disease and lowered IQ in children.....

Got anything else for my defense??

This is pretty sick I must say. I'm so glad to live it the country side and have Fluoride free water but when I visit my friends and I explain to them I don't drink fluoride water they look at me like I have two heads!

I'm not sure if there is a study on fluoride affecting intelligence or whatever but from what I've seen children raised on fluoridated water end up dumber (harsh I know) than children raised on normal water. Just look around at most young people I bet almost all of them are raised on fluoridated water.

This has to be said and the information needs to be more widespread.

The doctors tried the same thing with us when my daughter turned two. My wife came home with the flouride and I threw it right into the trash. Needless to say she never brought flouride home again. The doctors are very pushy about it and that is quite annoying. It's almost as if they get paid extra to get us country folk to give in to their crap/ I like my clean well water just fine. I grew up without using flouride and I turned out just fine.

That's CRAZY..but you have done the right thing! Have your wife research first! I must have gotten really lucky with both my ped. and ped/dentist. Our ped. is very suspicious of our govt..and doesn't hardly ever prescribe anything. He told me some parents have stormed out of his office because he wouldn't prescribe antibiotics for their children's colds.

Our dentist is great too. He always ask first if we want the fluoride treatment. He always explains the pros and cons and even let us know that the use of fluoride is being debated in other countries. If you want the treatment he has you sign a waver. We NEVER get the treatment though. Pretty cool to know that I have doctors on the up and up.

Even if fluoride does help to make teeth stronger children don`t need it because they are going to lose those teeth anyways when their permanent teeth grow in.
I don`t think it`s worth the risk to poison yourself with fluoride just because it might make your teeth stronger, people can live just fine with dentures but I don`t think they can live just fine after poisoning themselves for years with fluoride.

I'd be bringing in the printoffs of what flouride is and does, to the doctor and ensuring he/her chooses to educate himself and quit endangering folk, or he would be known for being evil and avoided at all costs. Its a crimes against humanity.

My wife was pregnant with our second child, the doctor did an RH factor test. The test results came back high. The doctor recommended a specialist and said there was something wrong with our baby. We go to the specialist and he assures us that the test can be wrong and he will run it 3 more times to be sure. He runs the tests and sets up an appointment to discuss the results. The man is literally crying. He said our baby would be born deformed.
spina bifida, etc. We tell him that we don't believe in abortion and will take what we get. He wants to do an amniocentesis,which we declined. I had a friend who worked at the Childrens Hospital in Houston and asked him to get me all the information he could on this RH factor test. A week later he hands me about 20 pages of information on it. It was a real eye opener. The reserach showed that if the RH test came out high that there was a 1 in 10k chance that the baby was abnormal. It also stated that 1 in 500 women miscarry after an amniocentesis. It stated that if the baby's and mothers blood type were the same that the test would come out high. We made an appointment with the so called specialist and i tossed the RH factor research papers on his desk with the important info highlighted. He read it and said " I didn't know that!" She was born perfect, I am now a grandfather!
I don't think he did it on purpose. I think doctors are guilty of not really keeping up.

Ye Gods.Chuck that bag of fluoride pills in the garbage,where it belongs,i would if i were you.You are very fortunate to have unfluoridated drinking water,i also have that blessing.Our tapwater comes from a nearby artesian well,with just a bit of chlorine added-THE most delicious water imaginable.When i go visit my friend in town,i almost gag on the bitter,vile tasting water they have-i usually remember to take cooldrink along.
In fact next time im in the provincial capital,im going to look for fluoride-free toothpaste,this thread reminded me to make a note of that.

Hmm, I guess my 4 grandparents, who are all closing in on their 80s, should probably be dying a horrible death because of fluoride right now?
