I agree with you totally. Every time I hear somebody (talking about ancient architecture) say "How could they have created such precision work
without a computer?" I usually reply, "Uh, they actually had to think?"
Thinking is a skill that is slowly falling by the wayside. I'm guilty of it myself, grab a calculator everytime I need to add or subtract. I've
actually been forcing myself to write math problems out on paper recently, and I'm finding I can think better after doing that for a while.
I love to write, and I love to think about things at length, all by myself. You know, things like why are we here, what was I born to accomplish...
philosophical things. It's so refreshing to just turn your mind loose, let it wander around and see what falls out!
