I found two good lists of propaganda techniques. The first is from Wikipedia and it's just a long list but it's a pretty good page.

The important part is that it states

A number of techniques based in social psychological research are used to generate propaganda. Many of these same techniques can be found under logical fallacies, since propagandists use arguments that, while sometimes convincing, are not necessarily valid.

You can use knowledge of logical fallacies to refute most propaganda. However, there is also an advanced course here that describes techniques used by politicians. They fall into several categories and sub-categories.

Relabelling Values and Ideas

Value relabelling using cognitive dissonance tactics
Slogans
Pseudo-logic & science
Misdirection
The Third Party Technique

Emotional Appeals

Personal Attacks
Fear-mongering

Cognitive Dissonance

Truth Inoculation (give weak counter-arguments and no one will listen to future arguments)
Obedience to Authority Techniques

Using Human Frailties

Using Confirmation and Self-fulfilling Prophecy Biases
Using Group-Think

Modern propaganda started with Sigmund Freud's double Nephew - Edward Bernays (named one of the most influential men of the century and yet many have never heard of him).

You think you'll find the effective propaganda techniques on wikipedia? *sigh*

I don't really have time to talk too much about it. But there's two types of propaganda, logical propaganda and emotional propaganda. Basically the presentation of facts is logical propaganda. It's not what you really think of when you think of propaganda. It includes such things as newspapers, news shows(of course these have drifted quite heavily towards the emotional side), and schools. none of these things are inherently evil forms of propaganda, but they still are propaganda. Making decisions based on facts is a good thing. Being presented with facts is good.

It's the emotional propaganda that's bad. It's what you think of when you think "propaganda." It's when you use emotions to make someone believe something without being based on facts. It's why I hate Fox News more than other stations. They blatantly use emotional propaganda all of the time, way more often than other stations.
Lies aren't really propaganda either. For example, Hitler didn't control people with lies, he controlled them through their emotions. In fact, Hitler was always quite honest with his intent. You really can't control people with lies. It takes more than that.
My point is you're not going to find out how to recognize it on Wikipedia. You need to go to a library and read books on it.

Thank you for what you are doing.

I only wish this information were disseminated more widely, especially within the school systems. But obviously that would ruin their slave block control paradigm now wouldn't it?

Push forward, we have many minds to unshackle.

"When modes of music change the fundamental laws of the state change with them."

"Through foolishness they, the people, deceived themselves into thinking that there was no right or wrong in music - that it was to be judged good or bad by the pleasure it gave.... As it was, the criterion was not music but a reputation for promiscuous cleverness and a spirit of law-breaking."

-Plato

"One quick way to destroy a society is through its music." -Vladimir Lenin

"It's really a powerful drug. Music can poison you, lift your spirits, or make you sick without knowing why."
-Dr. Adam Knieste

"We manipulate people like crazy ... Every film composer mixes his experiences with a talent for musical manipulation, and then projects that Machiavellian power gut to gut."

"Music is used everywhere to condition the human mind. It can be just as powerful as a drug and much more dangerous, because nobody takes musical manipulation very seriously."

-Eddie Manson

"Music is the language of languages. It can be said that of all the arts, there is none that more powerfully moves and changes the consciousness." -David Tame

"I can explain everything better though music. You hypnotize people to where they go right back to their natural state, and when you get people at their weakest point, you can preach into their subconscious what we want to say." -Jimi Hendrix

"Someone else is steering me. I'm just along for the ride. I become possessed when I'm on stage." -Angus Young

Oh yes...Edward Bernays...the father of "spin"...

If you get the notion, there is a 4 hour documentary that talks a lot about Bernays...BBC made ....called "The Century of the Self"...wonderful collection of information.

Here it is...I suggest swapping it over to Youtube and bookmarking it as you go...it is way to long for most folks on a single sitting...

here is another article, it's a great article even though it was posted on Rense...don't kill the messenger till ya had a chance to read it...

Why Americans will believe almost anything

Yeah it is titled "why Americans" but it applies to anyone...

And here is another interesting article...

The Battle for your mind

Not everything these articles and videos include is 100%, but it is reasonable and worthy of reading and watching...

And lastly...
