Universe Today speculates that it might be a different type of rock more resistant to erosion.

Thoughts?

Looks to me to be a mangled piece of rebar.
How whatever it is got lodged (in?) the rock is beyond me.

Just another oddity? or something more secretive?

ATS has already deduced that it is a land-octopus.

They're native to Mars/New Mexico.

Hope this helps.

The best part will be seeing the reaction of the skeptics when we do eventually have conclusive proof of life outside our world. The worst part will be the affects on the religions. The aliens will most definately be labeled as demons or something like that.

You mean something like this? "Wow, there is finally proof! How exciting!"

Yea I'm not sure of any religion that makes the claim that we are the only creatures in the universe and I hardly think it would be more than a bump in the road for them to explain it away.

What would some microbes living on Jupiter have to do with following the commads God has given humans?

Really a non-issue in my opinion.

life started here and nowhere else

Some people may think so. I'm not among them nor are a lot of those dreaded skeptics.

Who called anyone a moron?

I have seen many religious folks claiming that ET's are demons... There is actually quite a big conspiracy theory about it... So in that sense they already are getting ready for their excuses...

Oh and they don't say there are no aliens but it would point more towards evolution if there were aliens. And if the aliens looked different from us there would be the whole made in his image to contend with. lol

I think it was a good point personally.

I still say, it looks like a beer can.
If it were a "metalic arm" it would mean there is a good reason for no life on Mars.
The terminator robots have already won out there and will be here next.

It looks like a handle bar from a martian bmx bike.

And oh yeah, the same picture was posted a few days ago.

Well you may not have noticed but religion is handily losing the debate on evolution as more and more science comes out.

Therefore there are many Churches who are now incorporating evolution into the religion by saying how God never specifically says that it didn't happen.

They are simply rolling with the punches and the members are following it without any real debate.

You should read up on this new progression in the Church, quite fascinating stuff.

so lets take a step back -- now how many probes have crash landed on mars i am sure some bits will be scattered over the surface we just need a bit with the NASA insignia to show who the real aliens are on mars

Seems like a small vein of some metal, that didn't erode as easy as it's rock sheath.
