I thought this basic information might be of interest.

Definition of Conspiracy : oxforddictionaries.com...

en.wikipedia.org...(crime)

Therefore the "Conspiracy Theorist" is very similar to a detective.

My assumptions and reply to a recent thread concerning the above can be found

Here : www.abovetopsecret.com...

Now to the definition of "Conspiracy Theorist".

Here are just a few derogatory definitions that pop up immediately upon google search

www.urban75.org...

en.wikipedia.org...:Conspiracy_theorists

www.cracked.com...

As any balanced individual can read, this definition is not presented as a "Detective",

but rather in terms much more associated with defamation of character and discrediting

an individuals point of view in a rather slanderous way.

So How many members of ATS are there? Not to mention Lurkers?

Well folks, you are all labeled as "Nut Jobs" automatically just because you are smart enough
to sense that many of the "Official Stories" presented to you in an irresponsible manner just don't
add up.

I'll say it again, Detective Work is Dangerous Business.
I mentioned two reasons in the reply l mentioned above.

Information is power. So be careful with it.

Well I certainly agree that those who look for deeper meanings are oftentimes labled in a negative view.

On the other side of the coin though there are people who tend to twist normal stories into something just because they can.

I believe its those people who can find a good balance somewhere in the middle that are the true detectives.

Absolutely. There are those who make assumptions and assemble facts in a subjective manner that
is most comfortable to them. Even if these assumptions are incorrect or even delusional, they present
them as if the crime has been solved. Then there are those who deliberately inject false information
in order to mislead, deceive, or sway the general opinion of a populous.

Thanks for your words.

S&F.

I've noticed that a lot of people will not even bother taking just a few seconds to research something that has been presented to them.

I remember a couple of years ago when there was a bogus post on Facebook about free rides home if you were too drunk on New Years Eve. It claimed that you could call a free hotline and get a free cab ride. It was insane to see so many people spreading that around without bothering to verify it.

Conspirare...literally means...to breathe together...

Con + spirare

Voting is a conspiracy, being a supporter of a football team is a conspiracy, working for a business is a conspiracy...

In later times, the conveniently used 'theory' has been tacked on to the word conspiracy, to make it a veiled accusation of affront.

The reality is, many social (and not so social) contracts are based upon the premise that subjects of the contract do 'breathe together'...but, of course, when it applies to the 'fringe' (another weasely word) subjects...there couldn't possibly be a conspiracy...

I think that the Free Cab Ride Home on New Years Eve 2012 was definately Legit.

It was an Excellent Public Safety Issue that was organized in many cities across

The U.S.A. I do not know what other Countries provided this feature that evening,

I would suspect that they exist. I do not know your location on The Planet,

but here is a link to an article to verify that this occurred. This occurence was not isolated to one city

incidentally. Best,,,

Interesting. The root of the word is rather sexy. Breathing Together can be a

sensual and intimate joy.

For practical reasons though, I will refer to this link which defines the word in not only

modern terms, but within the boundaries of this thread.

Link: dictionary.reference.com...

This modern interpretation is obviously an offshoot of "Breathing in Close Quarters".
