I have seen LOTS of quakes at this location for weeks?

about 30 quakes in ONE places in 24 hours??? min4.3 max 8.
for some time a LOT of quakes have hit this Target!
in the last 24 hours the rest of the world only had five quakes!!! ?

Is some thing Targeting that place???
is this an Attack? from space, aliens or man?
I use a great free program Earthquake 3D.

Link Quakes
this site shows 58 quakes. zoom in.

earthquake.usgs.gov...

If the GIM is only showing 5 earthquakes for the globe outside of the Santa Cruz ones, then maaaaybe you should consider a different EQ source, because that's plain bogus & bad event reporting.

I'm hoping the lowering magnitudes means it's FINALLY vented enough energy & is settling down. I almost don't want to say that, because the last time I said anything about hoping it vented enough, it spat out the big beasty 8. I kind of feel like I jinxed it earlier

It is bad news for these islanders. Let's hope that this is the worst of it.

Information is sketchy, but the news from the Solomon Islands Monday is ominous. What we know is that a tsunami struck the island nation in the South Pacific. The dreaded word brings back memories of the 2004 catastrophe in which 230-thousand people died. Early reports say 13 people are dead, but that figure is almost certain to grow.

Solomon Islanders say the 8.0 quake was followed by a wave as high as 15-feet that left destruction in its wake. A massive undersea earthquake brought a tsunami to the islands early Monday, destroying at least one community.

That is either an old article or a hoax article.

It quotes Australia's prime minister John Howard, but John Howard has not been prime minister since 2007, it also says that it hit early Monday, but in the Solomon Islands it hit Wednesday afternoon, im not 100% sure but it would have been no earlier than Tuesday in New York which is where the article originated.

Perhaps it is just another case of bad reporting. There are several articles already on line. Here is a story from Rueters Source

I think it's an old article, the Solomon islands were hit with an 8.1 mag quake and large tsunami around 5-6 years ago which would place the article in 2007.

I found the most recent article on that website and it has totally different information.

Earthquakes don't always mean energy is releasing. They can in rare cases increase the pressure between plates. I hope this isn't foreshock. Solomon Islands (nearest seismograph I could find) seismograph is going nuts.

You are so right. That was so weird. I found the story on google news and then went to post it and copy and paste and all that and I got the story from years ago. Anyway...I did post a current story. So sorry for the mix-up. So strange.

so much for hope in this instance. santa cruz is raging. just got another notification. 5.6 about 40 minutes ago. it doesnt seem to be settling down at all. could we be about to have that plate break up into 2 as was predicted by scientists?

between the russian volcanos acting up at the same time, the couple rare earthquake sites and now this. 2013 has started off with a bang. we're not even halfway thru february yet.

I read once from a member on here that ''when theres a week of 60 earthquakes of +5 magnitude then i'll worry '',

...well this is the first time ive seen 70 earthquakes of 5+ this week!

this im sure is making an exciting atmosphere in seismic and connected centres. more 6.0s. to me this is phenomenal. have we ever had this much earthquakes and aftershocks in succession in such a short period of time. and it doesnt seem like its planning on relenting any time soon. when all is said and done im sure something would have shifted.

anyone know if something like this has happened b4?

I have a question (and I probably won't like the answer,) but what would that plate break mean for us where we live? I live somewhere in the us midwest.

Please delete Mods if this is a redundant answer.
Imagine the New Madrid as the center of a "seam" between two halves of the
eastern North American plate, both of them matched up with the western half
as one piece at approximately the Missisippi.
The thing is, there's supposedly a lot of inclination now for the two eastern halves
to rotate like a couple of big toothless gears, upper counterclockwise-- and the
lower in the opposite direction and subsequently away from the western.
If the liquefaction of the two plates "glue" keeps up we'll get the Edgar Cayce
anchovie treatment in the breadbasket, with the Gulf of Mexico grabbing the low
ground created. If you've got a map and we're lucky in Illinois, Joliet could become
beachfront property. Then Club Fed gets a brand new swimming pool too YAYYyy

Let us pray... I still wonder what a plate shift would do to the E.Seaboard. hooo

I too remember the 2007 solomon island 8.1 earthquake being significant, ringing around the world and being discussed by scientists as possibly ....forming a new plate? I couldn't locate all the information, but came across some interesting stuff about the 3 plates that meet there being the "fastest moving plates on earth" with that earthquake in particular resulting in cross plate movement that switched directions:

live.psu.edu...

On the usgs site there was discussion about this quake and this areas unique geology:

walrus.wr.usgs.gov...

and this specific phenomena of "doublets" where earthquakes come in twin and sometime triplet sets with varying amounts of time in between as researched by Kagan and Jackson:

moho.ess.ucla.edu...

worth the read!
Perhaps this 8.0 will have a twin, hopefully not.....
