Pardon my ignorance, but what's a p-wave and how does it differ from all the other steady quakes that have been hitting the Santa Cruz islands as of late ?

You're on it TA--On GEE it's showing 1.2 millimeters/sec at Honiara, Solomon Islands--but it looks like a large part of the waves are cropped from 01:15:20 thru 01:17:40 UTC? Weird, definitely not auto adjusting the scale high enough to my eye.

I downloaded GEE a few days ago to watch the area. I just saw this on the seismo, the amplitude is in the millimeters instead of microns. If I were to take a noobie guess at it, I'd say it has to be a high 7, if not an 8.
