If this candidate gets in office in 2014, that is:

He goes on to explain how you receive no direct benefit whatsoever from paying taxes to the IRS, and that any benefits you see around you come from local taxes.

Amen brudda.

I've been watching him for quite a while, I like alot of what he says. I'll agree, we do not get much in return for our tax dollars. Just corruption!

Well, if workers stop making IRS payments in Nevada I think that they should pay a really big casino tax to the government as a lot of people dump their cash in that state that could be paying their income tax with. This is a pipe dream of this guy, the Feds could make the casino owners have a lot of grief. I'm sure this guy is not going to have any support from the Casinos, they don't want to stir up a hornets nest.

The casinos pay huge taxes already they basically fund the state as it is.

And in a follow up, the Federal Government will stop all payments to Nevada. They are, however, dead last in this type of funding.

All corporate subsidies, food stamps, medicare, medicaid, etc.

From Las Vegas Sun "In short, Nevada leaves millions, if not billions, of dollars on the table because state agencies are not aggressive in pursuing federal money and because state legislators have created state programs that cut off opportunities for federal matching funding".

Also, the reason Nevada gets so little from the Federal Government is because these funds are generally for matching funds, and Nevada is one of the stingiest states in the nation for benefits for their lower classes.

It should be noted that Nevada also has the lowest minimum wage of any state in the union.

I love his sentiment. That whole rebel without a clue thing is kinda cute. It's a disaster for a state like Nevada though and unlike any other state in the nation. The Federal Government quite literally owns over 80% of the land area of the state. At least 3 National Asset type facilities are in Nevada.

Additionally, the majority of Nevada's income and revenue for the state comes from people travelling INTO the state. (The Feds can end that like a switch thrown) They produce very little and nothing close to what would support them in any way. Gold and other mining, light industry found in any state and of no special importance to Nevada for business staying there, and conspiracy theories about the Nevada Test Site and what it contains. What else do they actually make for export?

So....cut off the IRS at the state level where it's a REAL cut off and the Feds will cut Nevada off, save for their own facilities. IF that played out for real....Hoover Dam would simply become a military base (More than it is already..but that's another thread) and the NTS would become a land within a land for isolating from the outside, or what qualifies for it in a state with only 2 real population areas. Las Vegas and Reno/Carson City.

I hate to say it...but there are states who could pull this off and survive the whirlwind that follows. Not many, but there are a few. Nevada just isn't among them unless they joined others in a pact ...but who? What contiguous land area? Arizona? Utah? Maybe...but both have that same problem. All Federal land between populations and those borders. Errr.... Right idea, wrong state. They'll have to hope for the best in other states carrying the water, IMO.

*S/F for the catch on the story tho!

i prefer "cash" work, i've worked as a cook at many restaurants just for this reason over the years.

i don't wanna send money to the irs any more than this guy, there is no benefit for me.
Giving money to the fed is like handing a crackhead a 50 dollar bill and expecting him to do something productive with it.

i pay local taxes on my property and the items i buy..

if the IRS wants cash they should figure out a way to "make" money, not "take" money..

that's what the rest of us have to do
