Yes that's true and that is the last thing that most of us want. But me and others like me want morals to stay a part of who we are. Anyone who actually takes a step back and looks at our beginning and looks and listens and reads the words for what they are knows it's good in all ways and in no way evil intended. The problem I see is when people dissect every single aspect of every single word. We could do this on and on and make everything we have ever learned or thought something evil when really it isn't at all.

Tim Mcveigh was a monster. That guy who shot up sandy hook was a Liberal but I dont think you are going out to kill a bunch of kids.
I'm not a conservative, it's funny but I use to think I was a Liberal because of my beliefs but then I saw many (not every single Liberal but all the ones I knew) telling others their beliefs are wrong and exactly what they should believe and exactly who to except and etc...

My personal belief is live and let live. Be good to others, all of us are human and we all deserve our own thoughts to not be subject to such hatred be it from liberals, or conservatives or any other.

I honestly enjoy learning all things about others beliefs, religions, lack of, science etc.. it gives me so much to ponder over. I would never want to take that away from one single person and I wont stand for it to be taken from me.

Dont say it but let others say and do as they will as long as their actions bring no harm to others. And no I dont think it harms kids to say our Pledge Of Allegiance but if they want to opt out that should be their choice.

Again had to make my point but sorry for the excessive posting.

From what i have seen during my interaction on the internet is that most people are jingoists or at least have a certain degree of natural jingoism. Obviously you have those on the other end of the spectrum but this can be due to some type of internal bitterness manifesting itself so the person looks for outward sources - "cant be me with the problem".

I'm actually disturbed that I hardly hear the pledge of Allegiance anymore. It's always the national anthem. I'd rather be a Nation under god than one nation under Bombs.

And I'M actually disturbed when I heard the Pledge of Allegiance.

OP is right, it's North Korean style brainwashing, we're not a Christian nation, and this country is busily killing people on the other side of the world because they're 'insurgents' who are only protecting THEIR country. Iraqi citizens are not terrorists, they are minding their own business, like we should be.

Or do some of you still think that somehow the BS about Saudi natives pulling off 9-11 implicated people from a whole 'nuther country????

This is what happens when you elect a coc aine and alcohol addled brain dead grandson of a Nazi to the Presidency via Supreme Court interference. We get more dead 'murcans and more dead people in another country who happen to have relatives who have now sworn revenge against us.

sure, we are all a sum of the influences we absorb throughout our lives, and for all manner of reasons we select various of these to keep and others to reject.

True, but at this moment We have a pledge, and I'd rather hear the one of allegiance if any. Although when I was a kid and was told to sing the pledge of allegiance In school, boy scouts, sporting events, and other large events I never did. I just put my hand on my heart and let the sheeple around me do the talking. I just think for the kids sake it should be under god not under bombs, until we can rid of a pledge and let everyone sing their own tune.

It teach's the concept of LOYALTY. It really is as simple as that. Whether or not you are loyal to your country or not is an individual decision you make once you grow up. It is in no way brainwashing children other than the concept of loyalty. The same thing goes for prayer, it teach's the concept of compassion/tolerance.

How can it be brainwashing if none of you - who have recited pledges - are brainwashed? You may not agree with it what you are saying (i like the pledge of allegiance in that it flows well) but it is certainly not brain washing.

I was never forced to say it. I knew what the words ment and what the flag stood for.
I said it because I wanted to.

FYI, the "Under God" part was added in 1954, primarily to infer that U.S. morality was superior to that of our Atheist Cold War adversary, the U.S.S.R..

One would think that if America was founded as a "Christian" nation, the "Under God" part would have been included from the beginning, which it wasn't. Just saying.

I don’t have much to say except if you consider that as brainwashing you must have a weak mind.

I am a christian, as I follow Christ to the best of my abilities, and I've always found the pledge odd. It wasn't so much the words, but the fact that we would get into trouble for NOT saying it in school.

In the matter of "Love us or get out" thinking:
I have a long family history of a temper with authority dating all the way back to the settlement of the first of my grandfathers from the 1600s in Southampton, NY. Ironically, my husbands grandfather was one of the men that settled there with one of my ancestors. (I have a point to this). My husband and I are in accordance with most of our political ideas, so for anyone to say "Like it or get out" is ludicrous. That's the same totalitarian mentality that causes uproar and rebellious attitudes. So, because we disagree with things, we should get out? No, my ancestors didn't and I won't either. One of my great grandfathers x(insert really long number here) spoke his mind, and made changes in the city he settled in, and while he challenged authority(I believe he was charged to pay shillings when he cursed in court hehe), he was still a respected member of his town, and was appointed to do many things among the main members of the council. He worked ALONGSIDE others that had opposing views, but in the end they made a difference. They made in their own small way, history.

Here I am, today, a mother and housewife with different views as a lot of other people. Though you and I might disagree on one thing, would I ever say "Kick them out!!!" No way, and do I think the pledge is brainwashing? Yes, it is! Do I force my children to do it? Absolutely not, in fact my children don't know it at all. That's the beauty of a free country. In this country, that I adore, I will not stand in the way of anyone wishing their children to say a few phrases. Just as I would hope no one would stand in my way, of not forcing them to learn them.

I think the Pledge of Allegiance should be removed from school.

It's a public school where lessons are dictated by the state.

It no longer teaches values, morals, principles. It is actually hypocritical to keep the Pledge active is an institution where they suspend you for a drawing of a gun, where they brainwash about our current president, where they teach lies about history and indoctrinate children into progressive socialistic Marxist entitlement beliefs.

The Pledge is too damned good for the garbage that passes for public schools.

Of course, this is just my humble, wee opinion.

I think saying that the pledge of allegiance is brainwashing is itself a form of brainwashing.

Think about it! We all know a common tactic of progressives it to keep repeating lies until everyone has heard it so many times some people actually begin to believe it.

Hitler’s Propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels once said:

id say that in school like you i stopped saying it just to be an outcast as well. always had to and have to go the weird way lol. but i stand by what those words mean and most people never take the under god seriously anyway, thats just for the masculine dominant mindset of the population to believe its the alpha male of the planet chosen by the one and only god...redonculous i know. but the fact stands that without that flag and its origional values we all might as well off ourselves in my opinion. the ones in media and political theater are obviously of a different opinion wich is entierely within the universes law of free will. but so is our ability to retain our way of life. so idk a clash is whats inevitable and its what we are seeing presumably. im rambling. sweet green delighted ablaze mind.

How many people here supporting the mandatory recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance every school day in every school in the country (until the kids wise up and refuse to anymore) which includes the phrase 'one nation' also support secession of their particular state because *they* are trying to take away your gun rights, etc????
