I pray for all involved:
For the physical injuries inflicted upon the 9 year old
as well as the obvious emotional/mental injuries the 17 year old has.

Reacting with anger towards the 17 y/o would be like being pissed at a dog for having rabies.
Anger and violence is a disease, one that isnt cured by more anger.

wow wtf

from the nydaily news

The kid told a cop, when they were going to the hospital, that he was thrown from the roof,” a source said. “The boy named the suspect.”

Freddy, before he lost consciousness, told the cop that 17-year-old Casmine Aska cast him over the ledge of the brick walk-up.

Investigators soon learned that the teen brute, who lived on the fourth floor, grabbed the child from his apartment and dragged him up to the roof, sources and witnesses said.

“(Freddy) was screaming,” said one neighbor, who ran outside her first-floor pad when she heard a “commotion.”

“He was saying, ‘Stop!’” said the neighbor, who did not want to give her name.

My heart felt prayers go out to the 9yr. old

This brings back bad memories for me . . .
Similar incident , exactly the same age. With not much to
do for the summer holidays I eagerly took an invitation to
go to our neighborhood park with which I thought
was a friendly jester to make a new friend.
I was naive enough even to make some sandwiches to take
along with us. As soon as we got there she suggested we
go up to this watch-tower that was aprox. three stories high.
As soon as we got to the top it was like BOOM, with out warning she
just pushed me over the handrail.
When I landed on the
strategically placed steel drums at the bottom, only then did
I realize I had been lured into this predicament.
Why ? to this day I still don't know why, or even who she was.
I lost most of my blood and teeth, yet somehow managed
to walk back home with blobs of blood trailing behind.
Spent the rest of the summer in the hospital barely making it.
Some people don't need a reason to do evil, they just are not
human. Just a reminder, PLEASE keep a close eye on your kids.

The police did try but I was unable to speak much and
couldn't positively identify her, so it was left as unsolved.

Who knows what she might have done since, scary

This Is a great example of the problem. There are too many nutjubs roaming the streets. It is time to start throwing them back into the padded rooms where they can't harm themselves or others. As for NYC, they need to ban "high capacity" buildings. They seem to attract a lot of violent offenders.

If we don't laser focus on children and child development - we are not going to live to see our own future.

I think these horrific headlines - WILL NOT STOP.

The headlines are going to keep getting worse unless we can find a way to respect each other
enough to seriously try and reach real solutions to our problems.

This, instead of hating and trying to kill whatever threatens us. That isn't working.

So sorry that happened to you. It makes my blood boil that there are people like that. I believe every effort should be used to identify people with this tendency and incarcerate them for the safety of the rest of us. She had other victims and you can bet no household pet lived around her. I wonder what became of her? Would not be surprised if she is dead already. Pure evil.
I was reading last evening (the 20 yr anniversary) story from the UK of the 2 year old toddler who was lured from his mom in a shopping mall by a couple of 10 year old boys....then tortured, and pelted with bricks, left on RR tracks to be sliced in half by the train. How do you reconcile that there are people like that who walk the earth?

We search for guns, drugs and money, trafficked children...we have patrols actively seeking out nearly every other evil....Why is there not a vigilante force working to identify and treat, and take such dangerous people out of circulation?
Makes me sick to my stomach literally. We are fortunate that you lived.

There are ways to prevent this and every one of them begins with a child.
