Yes, I do realize Dr.patient confidentiality priveledges are being hacked away at in this country but I've often heard it said that whaever new idea of control and general way to get into your personal lives usually originates in Europe.

I can "see" TPTB leaping on to this idea. Especially with their ideas of the "obesity problem" in America and the attitude we'got the technology why not? So please keep an eye on these people over here, see what "laws" they want to pass if this isn't already included in the Affordable Healthcare Act. Has anyone read the entire thing?

I really feel sympathy toward all of you over there in the U.K.
Is there no end to the quest for continuous invasion of privacy with our respective "lawmakers"? What happened to us?

The Everyone Counts Program

Jack Doyle

GPs are to be forced to hand over confidential records on all their patients’ drinking habits, waist sizes and illnesses.

Privacy campaigners described it as 'biggest data grab in NHS history'

'They warned the move would end patient confidentiality and hand personal information to third parties.

What third parties would want to know about our BMI, family health, drinking habits etc?

'Patients will not be able to opt out of the system.'

Why am I not surprised.

Well we have HIPAA laws to protect us. I really don't worry about what they do over there in Europe. From my observation it appears that many use America as a distraction to their own problems.
I don't think we should do the same. Orwell wrote 1984 about English Socialism

This is a complete outrage!!! Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

So let's see what they say:

Diagnosis of everything from cancer to heart disease to mental illness would be covered. Family doctors will have to pass on dates of birth, postcodes and NHS numbers. Officials insisted the personal information would be made anonymous and deleted after analysis.

In what way does getting your NHS number make this 'anonymous'??? And who is going to trust anyone to 'delete after analysis'? Yeah right, who do they think they are kidding?

This needs to go viral so more people in the UK can make a stand against this.

All this is going to do is make people lie to their doctors or even worse put people off going to their doctors. Is this the plan? To make people not go and then just die off early due to not getting treatment in time? Big pharma won't like missing out on all that drug profit I am quite sure.

I totally HATE this Big Brother snoopy society we are being forced to live in.

Everyone Counts: Planning for Patients 2013/14 outlines the incentives and levers that will be used to improve services from April 2013, the first year of the new NHS, where improvement is driven by clinical commissioners.

Everyone counts

Because of the nature of how the NHS works, statistical information about its users helps it to prioritize services and plan its budget more effectively.

Its not sinister.

It will most assuredly happen here - for a number of reasons that will be floated to the public. First, they will claim it will help "Control costs" and who doesn't want that, right?
Second, they will claim that they're doing a study on "trends" to offer better "service" and who wouldn't want that, right?

The reality is that it will be used as a bludgeon against those who do not live the way the collective demands. It will be used to threaten higher rates.

Of course this is just another step in the incremental creep of the state. Sadly, many of the sheeple will praise this and call it good thing.

We're screwed!

Oh, and there it is... just like I said. This was posted while I was typing my post and didn't see it. My prediction has become instantly fulfilled.

Too true; too many sheeple not enough thinkers. Wait until the sheeple get the idea, and have some of their misconstrued thoughts about freedom trampled on.

It’s just a new means of gathering epidemiological data and all of the information is going to be anonymous. Such information is needed and it makes sense for example if we know exactly how many smokers there are in the UK we can better direct services.

Obama is already going after HIPPA with his new EO's (that came about due to the gun issue). Read his list of executive orders/actions.
