I see nothing in your Bible quotes that teaches that it is ok to call yourself God.

Ps 82:6 I said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High.

Hosea 1:10
Ye are the sons of the living God.

Just two of many.

Want more?

Meet me here. But not if you want to retain your slave mentality.

Those Scriptures say "sons of the Most High" and "sons of the living God", not take God's place by taking His name.

I've met you here and you have provided me with nothing to interest me and you are in error. I will therefore not follow you to the other thread like a slave would. I serve God alone and you are not Him.

So much for you believing your WORD.

Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

Do not be a brethren to Jesus then.

Jesus spoke in ideals. He said that if your eye offend you pluck it out, but I've not heard of anyone plucking out their eyes recently! There seems to be a lot of rock throughing from people who may live in glass houses.

It's a metaphor. It means cut out the thing in your life that enables you to sin.

Ouch. There goes the dick.

It says "image of his Son", not claim to be God by taking His name as your own.

That sin usually goes hand in hand with other sins involving that part of the body.

I know, however I don't know any man alive that would chop off his dick before his hand. Ha

And masterbation isn't a sin. God struck the man dead in the OT for spilling his seed because the man was obligated under the Torah to try to father a child with his brother's widow.

It is a sin. Fornication/adultery is fornication/adultery whether in real life or imagined.

Matthew 5:28-29 (KJV)
28But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

I know lusting is a sin, we aren't talking about that. We're talking about masterbation. Can you show a verse that says masterbation is a sin?

You already know I reject the esegesis approach to scripture study.

It is a sex act and cannot be done without lust.

What proof do I need? How can I prove a negative?

You claimed it was a sin therefore the burden of proof is on you to show a verse saying it's a sin.

And no eisegesis please.

Your use of "sure it can" and not "I believe it can" gave me the idea that you have some kind of proof.

As I said, all sex acts outside of marriage are based on lust. We both seem to agree that lust is a sin.

Lusting is a sin, and fornication involves two people. And i said "sure you can" because a person can self gratify without thinking of someone else.

Paul said it was better to remain unmarried unless you can not handle it, then it is better to get married. It is obvious that remaining unmarried and handling it yourself was not considered an option by Paul.

It is still sex outside of marriage and is a sin.

Ejaculating isn't "sex", that's absurd.

If it were we would be sinning every night with nocturnal emissions.

Didn't you read twice now that I have no respect for the eisegetical approach to scripture study?

I'd never thought I'd say this, but I think I understand what Truejew is getting at. Check this out:

Sex is intended to be both an expression of love for your spouse, and a beautiful means of procreation.

Sex is so special, powerful, and valuable that it is properly used only within marriage. If you're not married, you should abstain from sexual activity.

I know: this is all very counter-cultural.

The truth sometimes is!

Sex is the ultimate gift husbands and wives can give: a total gift of self, body and soul. Sex is how you fulfill your wedding vows to love totally, freely, and completely. As long as you both shall live. The secret of life is hidden in that intimate sharing.

The Catholic teaching on masturbation says that masturbation denies every aspect of that promise of sex — of that promise of your vows!

Masturbation is:

Focused on yourself
A withholding from your spouse
A statement that sex is only about pleasure — your own pleasure
Inherently sterile
Often accompanied by "adultery in your heart" through pornography and fantasy

and

The world has a way of saying that a lot of disordered things are "good".

Masturbation is radically self-centered, and radically un-Christian. That's why the Catholic teaching on masturbation says it's wrong. It turns us and our sexuality away from God and toward ourselves by:

Training our sexuality in the habit of self-indulgence, not self-giving
Divorcing the pleasure of orgasm from union with the "other", your spouse
Turning away from the risks of loving another
Refusing fertility & the full responsibility of sex

I know — many educators and health professionals seem to be having a love affair with self-centered, self-indulgent sexuality. Why that is, I don't know.

They're wrong. They're not telling you the truth about sex, about yourself, or about life.

You and your sexuality are worth more than you can imagine. Source

And from the Catechism

2352 By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. “Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action.”138 “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose.” For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of “the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved.”139 (1735)

To form an equitable judgment about the subjects’ moral responsibility and to guide pastoral action, one must take into account the affective immaturity, force of acquired habit, conditions of anxiety, or other psychological or social factors that can lessen, if not even reduce to a minimum, moral culpability.

I know, I know it says Catholic teaching
, but I believe this is what Truejew was getting at.

Oh, and if you have nocturnal emissions, nightly then you may need to go see a doctor!
