I don't see anyone saying it's not sad, etc, but just discussing the fact that it's being blown up because of the recent mass shootings.

A shooting is bad, but it's not a mass shooting (which.. you know.. is worse).

Inner city violence? Kid doing what a "thug/gangster" would do? Mental instability? There's a litany of reasons this could have happen.

IMO, seems like some "tough" kid that never learned how to appropriately deal with a particular situation. People are being groomed (inadvertently in most cases) to think it's alright to resort to using violence.

Pathetic and truly disturbing times we live in.

Price Middle Scool, all I am hearing is 14 year old girl shot in head by male student. He is in custody. She was taken to Grady Hospital, was alert and talking.

So yes, gun free zone, underage minors who should not have had access to a gun.

School is being calmly dismissed.

3 schools on lockdown, all in a cluster by the school. This is by Turner Stadium. The teacher was injured, and treated on the scene.

Carver High, Slater Elementary, Price Middle.

There is some confusion on the gender of the student that was shot. They were told it was a girl, they will confirm.

In basically any other country any shooting at a school would be massive shocking news.
Just another day in America though.

How dare the news report it.

People die in horrible, violent, stupid, unfair ways every second of every day.

Death, by the numbers, simply isnt a big deal. I know it sounds cold but it's just not.

The loss and heartache on the other hand is a pretty big deal but even that is temporary. The closer you are to a particular instance of death will make it a bigger deal but it's still just death.

Life is pretty brutal by default. Virtually everyone in the US, even those in the worst situations in the US, has it pretty good in the scheme of things. It's unfortunate so many take that for granted.

How many children died in the seconds before and after this one was injured? He's not dead as of this moment by the way.

There's something odd about a complete stranger, maybe thousands of miles away, getting all upset and heartbroken because of one death just because it made the news. If that person were sincere in their compassion they would be on their knees overcome by grief every moment of every day for all the loss and death that occurs.
