A Journal Sentinel investigation found the agency ran an operation for 10 months in 2012 marred by mistakes and failures. Guns were stolen from an agent's car, burglars made off with $35,000 in merchandise from the store, agents left a sensitive document at the store when they closed the storefront and in at least three cases the wrong person was charged. In one case, the ATF sought charges against a man who was in prison at the time - on an earlier ATF case.

Hot on the tail of Fast and Furious the ATF sets up shop to draw a bunch of thieves and drug dealers to Milwaukee by paying a premium for drugs, weapons and other contraband.

A premium so high that people were lawfully buy a firearm from legitimate retailers only to sell to the ATF at a profit.

After they draw in a bunch of criminals, set cash and guns (several of which were actual "assault weapons") out onto the street, they bail on their rent.

And the agency remains locked in a battle with the building's owner, who says he is owed about $15,000 because of utility bills, holes in the walls, broken doors and damage from an overflowing toilet.

Take note: these are the clowns who will be charged with enforcing any new changes to gun law in the US.

Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside doesnt it?

I think the ATF summed up their purpose in life up quite well by their own...ahem...words.

As part of training for ATF special agents and state and local task force officers, ATF purchased a number of Leatherman tool kits engraved with the words ‘ATF – Asset Forfeiture’ and ‘Always Think Forfeiture’ for distribution to the participants.

Yes indeed...It's never said quite as well as they can say it themselves. They claim it was just a one off thing for a training reminder? Well...I think it was a brief look at their true thinking and priorities.....they just got caught.

If there is an agency in need of disbanding, it's that one first.

That's insane. I cant believe every head involved in that didnt roll.

Well, I can. It is government sanctioned theft. All the folks in charge of watching for corruption probably had a grand laugh at the in-your-face gesture.

You can't get any more inept than the ATF.
