All that glitters is not gold, especially when what glitters is the bars of the cage they keep you in. If you ever want to be free, the time to awaken is freaking NOW.

At one point I was a slave to believing in a single mans voice......No more.

I believe in ideas now not men. This is the simple thing that allowed my mind to be free.

By the way the progressives greatest trick is to get you believing in the man not the idea. Then they can tear the man down and the idea falls with him.

Did you see a reply to box above my post? I was not referring to anything you wrote, only the contents of the video and my thoughts. I don't see how my status as a mod has anything to do with what I, or you had to say.

No, which is exactly why I felt it was directed towards me (its my OP).

Bad form Seabag.

Wasn't meant to be. I was stating what it appeared to be, IMO of course.

I was merely pointing out that some people feel the need to blame Obama for anything they can, rational or not.

Fair enough.

Unless Obama is proposing turning over all production in the US to it's laborers than it isn't Socialism, it's something else. What else could it be?

Oh yeah... he's putting on a caring face while enhancing status quo Capitalism. "Don't worry folks, we won't let you starve! Just don't ask us to address the causes of poverty." Our current form of Capitalism can't exist without exploitation, if any form of Capitalism can. So yes folks, if you want to keep cheering for billionaires who got their billions by not paying a living wage... that export jobs to even cheaper labor in China etc, even though their workers here were loyal and hardworking and producing pretty profits then you'd better start cheering for welfare programs too.

It's interesting note how Congress fought FDR tooth and nail regarding his "second bill of rights". They shut him down. FDR vetoed and Congress overruled him....

I would expect more of the same if Obama tried to push this progressive fantasy of god given economic rights...

Interesting...all I see is a list of stuff that the government will have to regulate and need MORE POWER (Scotty) to do so...

This isn't about people rights...its about giving the government control over your lives...

“The right to own a home”?? Isn’t that the kind of crap that gave us the Fanny-Freddie housing bubble fiasco?

The funny thing is that "own" is a misnomer...property taxes are proof no one owns their home...you don't pay for something every year of your life that you own...that is what a rent/lease is...

so really when the "government" says YOU have a right to own a home it really means...."We the government have a right to own everyone's home".

because when the government starts to "provide" your rights...you have none at all...they are privileges the government can give and take as it wishes since they are the ones in control of "rights"...

for the government to give everyone housing is no different than robbing Peter to pay Paul...its exploiting one group to provide for another group...that is as equally disgusting in one direction as it is the other direction.

"rights" are a list of things the government must not INFRINGE upon...NOT provide...

If you require someone to provide you with something you are DEPENDENT on that someone or something...

Funny how people want to cite "capitalism" considering capitalism has not existed in this country for over 100 years.

Meaning no person living knows what the hell it is.

cap·i·tal·ism [kap-i-tl-iz-uhm] Show IPA noun an economic system in which investment in and ownership of the means of production, distribution, and exchange of wealth is made and maintained chiefly by private individuals or corporations, especially as contrasted to cooperatively or state-owned means of wealth

Government is the largest distributor of wealth this world has ever seen and prints its own money..

That is not capitalism.

God forbid that anyone should give up some of what they have to help those in need. You call it socialism, I call it being a caring human being. If I had to live where I just got everything I needed, with a little left for leisure, to help those less fortunate get into the same position, I would gladly do it. Or perhaps you have a better idea to end poverty? If you're so against 'socialism', what's your cure-all alternative?

If you're so against 'socialism', what's your cure-all alternative?
self-reliance, self-sufficiency, self-awareness, self-improvement, adequate self interest to develop into the person who is then capable of helping their neighbor.

government mandates have proven ineffective, detrimental and exremely oppressive of self-advancing adventures which could benefit all of society and this has been happening for all the days of my life.
how are they working for you ??

Funny how people

We have names. It shouldn't be too hard to use them considering how few of us there are on this site. You may as well use them considering that tossed bricks have more subtlety.

Oh do tell. We don't have private business owners in the USA? When the hell did that happen? 100 years ago?! ...holy crap, now I gotta fix all my durn capitalism sux signs. Screw it, I'm too lazy.

Meaning no person living knows what the hell it is.

Well just because you don't, doesn't mean the rest of us suffer the same limitations.

Government is the largest distributor of wealth

Yeah maybe, just ask all the CEO's, the defense contractors, the bankers... the oughtta know 1st hand!

That is not capitalism.

Yes and no, you're partially right but you have no idea why. This is what Capitalism becomes when it is treated like spoiled brat of a child and allowed to have everything, take everything, without regard for others, without consequence... and now we have a monster that we continue to feed because now we're terrified of what will happen if we don't.

Forgot the only people who have problems with "billionaires" are historically? Communists,Marxists,Socialists evil China has billionaires.

You might want to take a refresher course on history.

Well, the public health system in Australia has worked just fine for me, but that's just one. What of those people without the means to be 'self-reliant' etc? Are you 'self-reliant' or do you in fact rely on a lot of other people for your needs?

IF so, I expect that they will add "a reasonable right to be safe and secure from indiscriminate gun violence" or words to that affect to counter the current Second Amendment.

Damn it Obama, why do you do all these things to me?

This is the mentality of those who seem to worship the idea of hating Obama. It's kind of funny, cause the opposite are those fanatical " He's my President" types.

You mean like the Messiah is come, the epiphany, a light will shine on you and you will vote for me, the oceans will stop rising, Obama is the Second Coming types? By that rationale, I think the first type sound more sane, don't you?

You know what Obama is really good at? Why globalists love to have him at the helm like he is? Cause he plays ball, and he's soooooo good at changing or influencing the national conversation.

Just look, last week Gun Control, new wee Immigration. That's a hell of a leap policy wise. Obama isn't a socialist. If he was, then the healthcare package would have included a public option, which mind you was popular among voters at the time.

And before that it was closing Gitmo, and before that it was jobs, jobs, jobs! Funny how they are closing the Gitmo coucil, and the jobs thing is totally silent. What's it been, nearly a year now since they have met? How long will he let the Jobs council ride for a paycheck before he closes that down, too. Got to let them exist long enough to get that pension.

What Obama can be described as is a globalist scum bag. Just like all of his friends and colleagues in most seats of high power in the US. Romney was no different, he was just on overdrive.

Besides, how can you have inherent, 'God Given' rights if the government has the ability to add to them?

Seems a bit strange.

~Tenth

Obama is a Marxist/Moaist with a touch of Narcism and a flair of personality disorder to boot. He is the ultimate President Du Jour, depending on the current political winds, and his current political agenda. He has "been" every president from Lincoln to FDR, and on.

We don't know WHO he is, because he is so busy being everbody else. But, one thing I can tell you he can be, and that is unatable, untrustworthy, and calculating.

Yawn

Fiat currency meaning no business owner has wealth as the wealth is determined by the federal reserve.

Well just because you don't, doesn't mean the rest of us suffer the same limitations.

Sure do unlike some

Yeah maybe, just ask all the CEO's, the defense contractors, the bankers... the oughtta know 1st hand!

No maybe's about it all those who are on SS,medicare, medicaid, those who got their "free homes" and their free cell phones. and that student loan debt that is now over 1 trillion dollar do know.

Sorry this is what social engineering has become bunch of people acting like spoiled brats when people tell them they can't get everything they want.

You might want to take a refresher course on history.

Nope others need to take a look at current events at that 16 trillion dollar deficit and within the next 3 years that sum will be well over 21 trillion.

They don't own land and other material things? They don't have the power to hire people or pay them well enough so that other people can own land and other material things? That fiat currency sure goes a long damn way doesn't it? It has the power to buy laws and policies the people with the most of that fiat currency.

Now I'm all for limiting the printing of money, but that changes nothing about Capitalism. If 'money' were to disappear tomorrow, those that held the most of it would still have deeds to buildings and land and all manor of transport, factories etc...

No maybe's about it all those who are on SS,medicare, medicaid, those who got their "free homes" and their free cell phones. and that student loan debt that is now over 1 trillion dollar do know.

People on Social Security have paid in more than they will ever get back and some of us will never see a goddamn dime of it but we still pay it, so how about dropping that from the entitlement rhetoric? Medicaid too for that matter. Student loan debt? How about you talk to your banker and corporate friends about that one, they're the ones that bought the Policies that made it into what it is today. Free cell phones? Talk to Bush. Free homes? Where?

Nope others need to take a look at current events at that 16 trillion dollar deficit and within the next 3 years that sum will be well over 21 trillion.

Tell your billionaire friends to stop hiding their money off shore, tell your friends in the defense industry to stop buying politicians that vote for more war. Scrub your brain a little and unclog that critical thinking cog and tell them to start hiring Americans again at decent wages and maybe there will be less families on entitlements. Rub your eyes a little bit and unfog them and maybe you'll see the real drain on our economy.
