2012 and the Flow of Time

If it were true that December 21. 2012 marked the end of an era, then it is possible that it marked the beginning of a new one. Prior to December 21, 2012, much of society was forward-thinking.

Is it possible that after 2012, society could start working from memory or experience instead?

I had a dream once of a tribe living in the future, around the year 3,000. They were living in the ruins of a city which had become a forest. There was a window through which the friends would use as a door to their house / cave.

For a more scientific explanation, think about how there was a massive amount of information stored on the internet in the past decade. When there is a lot of information stored somewhere, that information does have the potential to be used as a resource in a future, even on a more personal (and familiar) level, where the individual will possibly use the internet or electronic media as a substitute for storage space in the mind, and in general, be learning from experience instead of imagination.

In scientific circles, they used to be reaching into the abyss to look for ways to explain the world so that it could be categorized, labelled, and processed by society - this could pave the way for a society to live in the moment.

In the past, if you needed to learn how to start a fire, you would have to pick a moment in time to learn when there was the opportunity, and store that information in your mind for later use.

This meant that there was more communication between time periods during a human's life span, times where he had to do something in the present to prepare for the future, or in the past to prepare for the present, or in the past to prepare for the future.

These days, if you need to learn how to build a fire, you might use the portable internet on your cell phone, or look it up online before you head out camping, or something like that.

The problem here of course is that examples you provide are not connected to 2012. The internet was somewhat there by 1995 and in full swing by 1998. Of course, much of that early internet was porno driven. That was the largest online industry at the time. Things have changed now with other groups using the internet for commerce.

Before the internet people used books and libraries. The internet reduces access time, and makes more superfluous information available.

I really see no connection to 2012 in this thread. It would be more appropriate to have chosen 1993 as the starting point if you were thinking about the effect of the internet on people.

I understand where your going with this. That being said just because you watch Bear Gryllis doesn't make you Bear Gryllis...... You would still need to practice applied science.

I agree with Stereo, I would have this in a different thread than 2012... Where's the Flow of Time... I thought I was gonna read a thread on how it seem's like the days are growing shorter and events are speeding up....
